I’ve had a white 2004 Malibu classic. Had 103,000 miles on it when I bought it. I’ve drivin from Montana-san Diego-Florida- San Diego- Montana- San Diego- Montana- San Diego. Today it’s 166,000. Only problem is coolant tank and headlights get foggy every now and then but my boyfriend who had a Hyundai Genesis 2010 is jealous of my car because of the gas mileage, AC system, battery and engine power. Won’t ever give up this car until it’s is no longer able to use. I truly believe this is the best car to have

We had an 03 Malibu that we bought in 2004 with little over 90,000 miles and it lasted us up until last year with 215,000 miles when it was totaled in an accident...I don't think any car would ever replace my old Malibu. Even though I have an 07 Impala now which has the same sounding v6 engine...Brings back a lot of memories of that Malibu.

My grandma had a loaded 2000 LS in Navy Blue Metallic. It also had the rare golden badging package which only made it to select few LS models throughout the 1997-2003 generation (not including the 2004/2005 Classic). It was nearly mint and had over 250K miles when it was traded in late 2019. They're incredibly cars and I absolutely loved it.

Nice reliable workhorses these cars are. As far as them 'falling apart' by 100,000 miles, I guess ours, a 2001, can't count, still going strong at 340,000 KM's or 210,000 miles on original parts except for requisite tuneups, a battery, an alternator, and front brakes. The rear brakes are still original, and the A/C works fine as well. The chassis gets regular oiling to keep it all together. Scheduled maintenance is what it is all about. As for the Japanese car thing, neighbors have a 2008 model of one. It gets fixed and maintained only when needed. It is a rusty, unreliable vehicle on its last legs. Take care of a car and it will take care of you. Pure and simple.

I just got me that same car yesterday How do you change the time on dashboard ?
@mcdavidhome1006 жыл бұрын
I noticed you said the eco tech engine has some vibration. Im assuming the dashboard vibrates when you put it in gear mine is like that also and I was thinking it needed motor mounts. are you suggesting the vibration with 4 cylinder engines is normal?
@MichaelAdamsRocks6 жыл бұрын
The motor mount on near the firewall was shot on this particular car. It is normal for 4 cylinder engines to have some vibration to a certain degree. This one was exceptionally annoying because of the bad mount.
@mcdavidhome1006 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelAdamsRocks ok thanks good to know. When you replaced the mount did the vibration get better?
@MichaelAdamsRocks6 жыл бұрын
We never ended up replacing it. The car was traded in last May. Didn’t seem to get any worse though.
@danielhn935 жыл бұрын
The one I just bought shakes a little more during lower rpms in drive and reverse, so that does tell me the motor mount is to be checked. I'm surprised you and the OP also had the same issue on yours too.

My 15 .year old older brother just got one from one of the new chevy dealerships, it was a "fleet" vehicle" since new it is a 2005 malibu classic. it has 84,000 miles and looks and runs like a brand new car. And it is now april of 2022 it has the 2.2 eco tech 4cyl no lights on dash, ac/heat work great. they told my dad it was a temp loaner vehicle. all those years. stero sucks it still has a radio and cd player and no aux or usb input, meh wat can u do.

Do all Chevy Malibu's have such a loud engine ? I've noticed very loud noisy engines on every one so far. And most of them are 6 cyl. I'm getting my Mom's Chevy Malibu soon 6cyl 2002. Hope it's not as loud in the engine. It's tan like the one in the video. I have to get use to being in a little low to the ground car since I've driven a Ford Cargo Van for over 55 years.

I have that same car. But I've already spent over $800 of repairs on it. because parts keep failing. Has the check engine light ever come on in that one?
@MichaelAdamsRocks8 жыл бұрын
+michael king There have been 2 times the check engine light has come on. Once because the fuel cap wasn't sealing properly and once because one of the wiring harnesses came unplugged under the hood somehow. But no serious issue has resulted in our favor thus far.

+MichaelAdamsRocks Hmm okay. maybe I just got a bad car. mines the 05 version. And has about 128k miles on it.
@MichaelAdamsRocks8 жыл бұрын
+michael king Meh, I wouldn't say it's a bad car, but by the time 128k comes around, they start to need some work. And even on that note, it all depends on how well the previous owners have taken care of it. This car is close to 103k and it needs a motor mount and coolant flush at the present time. Everything else so far is in great working order.
@alldayhazelofi8 жыл бұрын
+MichaelAdamsRocks We've just had really bad luck. And I don't have the money to keep fixing things either, or do alot of tune ups and stuff. It's just been a really stressful car so far. For me anyways.

These Classics are great cars. But they do have the same issue with the security system as Malibus and Impalas. There is a fix. Remove the ignitions and cut the yellow wire. Problem solved.

Not bad actually. Like I said, lacks passing power but that's about it.

Be readly to learn to do something repairs that become second nature and use your local crazy rays. The window switches give up in these alot. The emergency flashers are also a problem as is the theft system. There are plenty of videos and help to learn how to fix these for next to nothing. If you can put up with that. then the ecotech is good for 200k easy.

No, it's not called the Malibu Classic. There is no Malibu namesake anywhere in there. It's the Chevrolet Classic, sold for fleet use only. Fleet vehicles always are ran for one year longer than the public line of the car it's based from before that generation is discontinued.
