Scotty Kilmer, I have a 2000 Chevy C2500, GMT400, with a 5.7 Vortec and a NV4500. It's beat up, but I paid $500.00 for it. Then $612.00 for parts to rebuild the engine in my driveway. Now it has 320,000 miles. It's a gas hog, but a good solid truck. The 34 gallon tank makes me cry at the pump.

I had a 2014 Malibu as personal use company vehicle so the maintenance was done by our fleet schedule which was oil changes every 5000 miles. I have a bi-fuel 2002 Chevy Cavalier with 1,050,000 miles on it. The original engine and automatic transmission were replaced at 700,000 miles only because a fail safe thermostat failed closed and blew the head gasket and I could tell the transmission was on its last leg. Engine was not burning any oil, that's what running on CNG does.

Our Family owned a 2003 Impala and a 2007 Malibu both of them were driven up to 300,000 miles when sold used, still running good with no major repairs. But they both had the bullet proof 3.8L V6. Amazingly enough, on the freeway they got 30 MPG or a little better. I am still driving our 1999 Silverado, (first year of the new body style), 3 door EXT CAB, 2500, 4 X 4 LS and it is coming up on 400,000 miles, it still runs and tows like new. Scotty, I've watched your videos for many many years now and have used your advise for maintenance on vehicles which has paid off in the need to not have to purchase new vehicles every 2 or 3 years! Our Silverado was purchased in late 1998 and next year it will be "on the road" for 25 years. BTY, our Harley Davidson is a 1992 Fatboy and it's still "on the road" after 30 years. Keep up your great videos for the young people out there to learn "common sense" automotive maintenance.

The federal reguations require 40 mpg manufacturer average in 2026. They must go electric sell enough hybrids to keep profitable trucks in production. If manufacturers are forced to only sell trucks that are electric, its likely bankruptcy. Some pickup truck owners will install new crate gasoline motors in their older trucks before they will buy an electric pickup truck that costs $70,000. It might be like the American version of Cubans keeping older cars on the road.

I am sooo sad. I own a 2000 Toyota 4Runner. It still runs like a charm!! GREAT running condition. However, I've experienced the rust issue that they tend to have. Pot holes were so bad this winter, something came apart underneath and there's secure area to weld it back to so I'm a loss. Just put 2K worth of maintainance work into it less than a month prior! I don't want not new car! I would like to restore my 4runner or would like another older car .. preferably manual transmission! These later model cars can't hold a candle to the older cars. I sure do appreciate these videos.

Biggest repairs on it were the Throttle Body, Front Pedal assembly, Solenoid Valve Assembly, Starter & one of the Calipers had to be replaced. My mom also drove it off the freeway into an embankment when it had 60k. No frame damage or anything I've noticed wrong with 110k miles later lol. Love this generation of Impala. Great commuters!

Scotty, back in the 80s H. Ross Perot was on the Board at GM. He kept complaining how bad the Oldsmobile's were, He bought them locally in Dallas. The other board members said their GM cars were very high quality. After some investigation Ross discovered the executive cars were practically hand built and checked very carefully for defects. Ross said you guys ottta visit your dealers incognito to see what junk we are selling... Of course none of them did and Ross eventually got the hell away from them.

H. Ross Perot became GM's largest stockholder in 1984 when he sold EDS to GM for $2.5 Billion. That was a handsome sum since Perot started the company with $1000 in 1962. He landed a position on the board of directors and forced off in 1985 when GM bought all his shares of GM stock.

It was a northern car and I moved south with it but it's been reliable and a solid truck. GM needs to get back to making their vehicles like they did in late 90's early 2000's. They had solid trucks and sedans back then. Those Vortecs from that era were bulletproof...could easily 200k with minimal issues out of them and if maintained right they are 400k engines. Just had to be careful with certain years of those engines mated to certain transmissions.

Changed synthetic oil every 8000 miles. The one problem with the first 2 were rear end problems. I delivered freight all over the U.S. Beefed up the springs and used heavy duty shocks. Was rated for 1500 lbs but I went over this many times. I think that caused to much torque on the rear end. Had plywood on the floor to put skids in. One skid had to go sideways. Rear cargo doors opened all the way to fork in the skids. comfortable and reliable. I cannot find a new suv or van that can replace an Astro.

almost 300 thousand on my 02 tahoe still kicking along just fine ... I bought it 5 years ago with 142 thousand miles now I'm at 292 thousand ... I'm not easy on it I definitely push it hard and still get like 15 mpg ... only repair it needed was a water pump gasket ... in 5 years that's amazing ,,,, it dose leak oil but I keep it topped off

My 2008 Chevrolet Impala has 102000 miles. It runs great. I have original transmission, engine and a/c. I have changed the brakes and tires. I think the quality is top notch. It's a nice comfortable ride .

Certainly the cheapest car to own in this decade! PS: I forgot to said that is a white impala and she lives in QUebec 'Province probably the place in north america where salt and abrasive stuffs are used the most!
