Thank you for the video! The way I do struts is to leave one top bolt tight until all the lower bolts are out or lose.

Thanks for posting this, I just did my '04 Elantra and saved many dollars. I now know why you said "uh oh" when loosening the stabilizer bar link nut. None of mine would come off and I eventually bought a new link (11 bucks) and replaced the plastic one with a solid steel replacement on one side. To any others trying this, it's worth the extra bucks if you cant get the 14 mm nut off to just cut the bolt on the stabilizer bar and get the 11 dollar solid steel replacement.

Nice to see that the old Elantra had independent rear suspension which no longer exists in modern version!!

thanks for this video it saved me 130.00 for labor to remove and replace rear struts. I had no problem with ft struts. we could not get to top bolts on rear struts. your video shows hot to remove rear seat panel to get to upper nuts. thanks again I owe you a cold one.

Anyone using this guide, fair warning. This guide does multiple things that are unsafe. Most importantly, NEVER use anything other than hand tools (sockets) to compress the spring. It specifically warns against that practice in the Factory Service Manual because it can cause the compression tool to slip on the spring and will release the spring energy. Additionally, it is recommended to replace the soft parts (bellows and spring pads) because of the damage induced by weather (hot/cold cycles, water, dirt, etc). Finally it is recomended to replace all bolts/nuts (required for self locking), as they also become structurally compromised due to the repetitive loading (IE why you're replacing your strut) and environmental damage.

FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED THE STABALIZER BAR LINK: Last night I ordered new quick struts and cv axels from A1 Auto for my 03 Elantra. I have replaced one front strut that failed but it's now time to do all of them as they all make noise. After reading the comments I was worried about stripping that stupid bolt. A1 Auto has the pair for $30 or all 4 for $37 and METAL not plastic like the one on rockauto. They also give all the instructions and one big thing I noticed was to loosen the stabilizer bolts while it's on the ground, so there is pressure on the bolts I'm guessing. So, I am going to brave it and hope I don't strip it by just trying to loosen them while the car is on the ground. I hope this helps. A1 Auto Sway Bar Link Part# 1ASFK01431

is it the same on the Tiburon 2006
@bramblehead08 жыл бұрын
Probable not.
@Tanooki20038 жыл бұрын
Actually yes it is the same as a Tiburon since it is the same rear suspension, but with disc brakes instead of drum brakes. Technically speaking all Tiburons have the same subframes as the Elantras do from 2001-2006. I know because I have a 2008 Tiburon. The odd thing is that even though the Elantra rear suspension was improved after 2007, the Tiburon still carried the same rear suspension components as the previous gen Elantra (2006 and prior) :-(

Man, I can NOT get that nut off of the stabilizer arm. It turns and has an incredibly thin nut on the opposite side that I can't keep from turning. I have a 2002 elantra. Anyone else have this problem or can offer any advice?
@gstewart1488 жыл бұрын
An alan wrench is needed to keep the bolt from turning while you remove the nut.
@bramblehead08 жыл бұрын
OKay I have had the SAME FUCKING ISSUE
@bramblehead08 жыл бұрын
What I ended up doing was the stub that comes out of the control arm spins freely, so on the stub is a nut-looking thing that you have to hold onto just outside of the boot so you can turn the nut allowing you to remove that control arm. Well I ended up stripping that nut What I ended up doing is having to cut it off and removing the whole control arm to replace it as well. I havn't done this yet I am waiting to get the part shipped to me because AutoZone didn't appear to carry it (I have yet to go to the store itself but its online selection was crap) and Advanced Auto Parts (though they price match with Rock Auto) make you pay for shipping on orders under 75 dollars. What a load So I am having two new control arms sent to me, I found them at rockauto Stabilizer End Link is the name of the part you need 1015378 is the part number. Beck/Arnley makes it
@GavriloPewPew8 жыл бұрын
+Jared H I've only done 1 side, but I cut through it with my Sawzall and replaced the sway bar. autozone had them for $11 a piece and by next day.

@bramblehead08 жыл бұрын
This is great but Its missing a few 𝕂𝔼𝕐 𝔻𝔼𝕋𝔸𝕀𝕃𝕊!! -The control arm takes a 14mm box wrench to get off -BE VERY CAREFUL IT STRIPS VERY EASILY -If you end up not being able to remove the nut you have to cut the "Control Arm" off You should only really reach this point if you strip the bolt to the point of no return If or when you cut the bolt off keep in mind you still have to punch out the bolt that is remaining in the whole so it might be a good idea to have a hammer/pick The part you need to replace it with is called a Stabilizer End Link You can find it on RockAuto.com and its part # is 1015378 Cheapest I could find. It costed me around 40 dollars once all said and done.
@GavriloPewPew8 жыл бұрын
what did you use to grasp the nut to keep it from stripping?
@bramblehead08 жыл бұрын
I actually ended up cutting them off with a torch, but a set of small vice grips did the trick. But you got to really get them fuckers on there as tight as you possibley can
@GavriloPewPew8 жыл бұрын
Jared H okay, thanks. I only did 1 side and had to cut it with my sawzall. I'll try the vicegrips when I do the other side. Wish me luck, and thanks again!
