Hey Bud, great video! I'm a proud owner of an '01 Grand. Bought it used, 162,400. Someone at sometime tigged a drain plug on the tranny pan. It's lifted,loaded w/175,00 on it now. 4.0 doesn't burn a drop of oil. I'm 67 and did the lift myself. All Core 4×4 adjustable control arms & tracbar. Drag links/tie-rod ends. It's sweet. Negative 1 degree caster, did all math/measurement. 1/4 inch steering wheel movement and goes where it's pointed. Never had it aligned since I lifted it 2.5 inches. No oversteer/understeer and will whoop a foot of snow mud or rain. I'll never make another car payment again.

Hey Bud, great video! Couple of questions, what was the torque on the pan bolts if any? Also, do you recommend Mopar tranny fluid or does it matter? Thanks again!!

Thank you for watching. On bolts there is a torque for everything but I don't torque the pan bolts I just make them nice and snug. Trans fluid it dosen't have to be mopar trans fluid just a good ATF+4 is all you will need hope that helps..

i have a 2004 GC also and having the same issue... sometimes it shifts fine and sometimes not... some say dont mess with it.. but i love my jeep and cant afford payments on a different vehicle right now... should i risk it but changing the filter and gasket and do a flush and refill ??? please advise....

It never hurts to change the transmission fluid and filter if it hasn't been done yet or it has been a while since it was done every 30 thousand miles. I personally do not like to flush transmission sometimes. I've seen that make more problems, but that's just me. Sorry that you are having problems with your transmission.. and thanks for watching..

From colorado 03 4.7 jeep grand cherokee limited today inscription on dash warning transmission overheating checked with previous owner : never had transmission filter changed assuming still O.E. WILL BE REPLACEING. FLUID AND FILTER ASAP

That would be a good place to start, and I would flush the trans cooler as well. Thank you for watching..

How did you remove the exhaust mounting bracket? It's in the way on mine.
@OneManand5acres8 ай бұрын
You shouldn't have to take the bracket off of it. You should be able to just remove the bolts and drop pan out with no problems. I didn't remove mine at all..

@@OneManand5acres I'll try. Thank you

Just did mine and I found the same broken piece in my oil pan. I can't believe it. My Laredo has 142k miles. So far drives normal. I'm not ready for a transmission rebuild yet. It's just too expensive for me right now. I wonder how long can I drive it like this. What do you think?

The snap ring is big, a little bigger than a softball. If it stays in, it can lose a few pieces off it and still work or can work for a long time or go out 10sec or 10 feet, whichever come first its one of them thing you just don't know. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it is what it is. I hope it works out for you in the long run.. Thank you for watching..
