Not sure if you eventually figured it out but the air vents aren't broken. They will only blow at the driver if no one else is in the car. They will go further if there are any passengers.

I have a Lexus IS. I am the second owner. To pass inspection this year, I had to replace the entire exhaust to a tune of $3,900 (dual w/ two cats). I also have the check engine light with the traction control light and the code is P0500, speed sensor. It has been to 2 auto shops and no one can find the problem. The speedometer works and when you Google the P0500 code, most have a non-working speedometer. Lexus wants $185/hr to diagnose the car and have roughly estimated $600 to diagnose the speed sensor code and then what they find needs fixing, add that cost to the $600. I requested my car back. This is insane! Good Luck. I'm sure by now your tainted black beauty is back to looking/running like new. BTW, Carfax can be false, especially when accidents go unreported, or it takes time for them to actually get on the Carfax.

Man dont take your car to lexus. Lookup a high rated repair shop, maybe one that specializes in old cars. Dealership wont batt an eye to scam you. Also dont take your car to a nice shop that only does inspections. Take your car to an older instant oil change place. Sorry about your experience.

I have the SAME exact scratch on my rear right quarter panel. I had to double check out side to make sure this wasn't my car, lol!! Both of our cars are very similar except mine has a spot of rust on the driver door next to the chrome, which is typical on the 430. I have the same amount of curb rash on all wheels. No door dings though. The front if my hood has freckles from rock chips and the spring in the hood latch locks up sometimes to where I can't close the hood. I have the replacement hood latch assy and will be installing it sometime this week. My Lexus is no beauty queen up close but she rides like a lazy boy on cloud 9. Our Lexuses, (Lexi?) should last a very long time if kept up on maintenance. They are one of the most reliable luxury v8 sedans out on the used market.

I recently heard the transmission was changed for the 2004 model Lexus LS I forgot what problem they had but there was one they fixed in later years. Maybe that is why the transmission says it was replaced?

Alternator easily go bad. I’ve seen them with almost 250,000 miles original alternator.

@ 10:10 the transmission held a gear because of the slight downhill, it's a feature built into the car.

The transmission held 3rd gear one morning on flat ground though. I was getting flashbacks.

@@Maybe1Someday another possibility is that it's low on transmission fluid. The holding 3rd gear is a failsafe method for being low on fluid. Unfortunately I think your transmission might be sealed so it's a tough one to fill. Also, the 2004 ls 430 had a TSB in which a transmission shift pattern update was recommended. It'll probably run you around $160 If that doesn't work, then replacing the entire shift solenoid should fix everything.

Mark M Idk if you saw in the video, but from lexus this car got a full new transmission 20k miles ago. I was really hoping the alternator was intermittently going out (who would hope for that?). The alternator was covered in oil, I tried cleaning it and the area around it yesterday. The transmission shows no sign of leaking on the pan.

@@Maybe1Someday well even with the new trans, you can still have the 3rd gear issue if the software isn't up to date or if the shift control solenoid hasn't been replaced. Other than that I have no clue what could cause these issues, these cars can be so difficult to diagnose. Even my 05 ls 430 has weird times where it overrevs between upshifts, but doesn't slip at all during hard acceleration. No codes, no transmission leak :/

That hood latch literally just happened to me yesterday in my GS 400 and I slammed the hood like 3 times then broke my grill, their is a cable like a bike cable that latches to that hood pull tab in the car, take the screws out and drop it down your cable isn't latched in there it came off to the side, put it in the slot the button will go down and then your hood will close correctly. Just saw this video is old 🤦‍♂️

Wow don’t hear that often as a matter of fact this my first time hearing all these problems I own a 2006 Lexus LS430 smooth as butter and got it with low mileage the owner really did a bad job on maintenance of a great car like the LS smh it’s like he just jumped in it and drove and did no maintenance at all wow as u stated bro u saw all the issues with the car but I understand sometimes to take a gamble thinking it won’t be that bad with what u oreads saw I wish u luck and sorry to hear about your lay-off and it definitely wasn’t fair the last owner could of at least gave u a heads up on the issues

Interesting video on a car that probably has quite a back story. The transmisison in mine had a leak from the torque converter seal. If I would have not caught that, I would have lost the transmisison. It may have been something similar on this one.

@@Maybe1Someday i mean booking value they still go for 6k even with 200k+. I just bought one for 4800 with 212k but it was meticulously cared for by a lexus technician all it's life garage kept no rust etc. Miles don't matter on these cars, it's the owners you need to be worries about.
