I was so proud of how fearless & poised The Pistons were this year. When they reached the finals, I remember reporters asking Rasheed Wallace about the Lakers & he told them "Ooo, what about the Lakers!??? Y'all act like they this dominant force. We ain't scared of them dudes." #Classic Detroit motto, down to Earth.

No, that's just Sheed being deluded as always. It just happened someone ELSE was more dysfunctional than he was.

Their game plan was to let them funnel everything to shaq. He could get 60 points and they still would not win because they were not going to be able to penetrate into the paint and everything on the perimeter would be contested.

@@kisekisecretofmyheart7769 yes they were unbelievable. A second championship would've happened if they've started Carlos Arroyo and ran Chauncey Billups as an off guard with Richard Hamilton and Tayshawn Prince as swingmen extra fire power from Rasheed Wallace and sub for Ben Wallace for defensive situations. Lead in the half and then original line-up third quarter and start of the fourth quarter. But no they ran original line-up which got out ranned by San Antonio Tony parker Manu Ginoboli and of course Tim Duncan.
@J-Hue3 жыл бұрын
@@kisekisecretofmyheart7769 05 team was def worse. 04 team would've beat SA and probably wouldn't have needed a Wade injury to beat Miami. 05, the starters were still great, but the bench was decimated. They lost 2 of their best 5 scorers and 2 of their 3 biggest bodies with no repacement.

That was the plan for the pistons. If they doubled shaq and started stopping him it would open the court up for the others and the Lakers would have everyone becoming a lot more dangerous. They let shaq get what he got without double teams. Then it stripped other players from being important and it tore them apart with kobe being the biggest example

Actually, Kobe cost them this series, just try to play hero ball all the time, but this loss also bring him to be mature to consider others on how to win a game by "ME" and the team in balance
@jcv2824 жыл бұрын
@Wilt Chamberlain GOD of NBA Yup. Payton was too old to guard Billups. Malone was too old to be effective. Kobe forced too many bad shots against a very good defender (Prince). Shaq didn't want to play defense anymore. Probably too lost the motivation after winning 3 titles. Shaq's 2004 NBA Finals FG avg: 63% Kobe's 2004 NBA Finals FG avg: 38% Went up against a more hungrier team that just wanted more than the Lakers.
Kobe was never as physical as MJ and not used to play under such physical Piston bad boys defense. If Perkins didn’t get injured Boston would win game 7 imo. Kobe’s finals stats can’t compare to MJ as facts.
