The Best Altima With The 2.5 Engine In This Gen Was The 2004 , 2005-2006
@powerplayground9 жыл бұрын
The 2.5L QR25DE engine from 2002-2004 had so many fatal issues. If you are looking at altimas in this year range, go for the 3.5L VQ35DE models. My 2004 Altima 3.5 SE has 170k and runs smooth with lots of power. Only issues I have with the car is some body damage and lifter tick noises when it is warming up. As for maintenance costs, I only have had to replace the battery, shocks / struts, brake pads / rotors, valve cover gaskets and the cam shaft sensors in the 4 years I've owned it.

Just hit 210,000 miles in my 2003 2.5s, thing burns a quart of oil every few weeks. Have only had to change the first catalytic converter and cover gaskets. Runs like new haven't needed ANY repairs over $300 and this thing has been through a beating. Multiple accidents but only to the body

Wrong Kyle, the QR25DE had issues from 2002-2006; involving both the pre-cat and the secondary butterfly screws coming loose in the intake-manifold. 2007 and up is where the 2.5L was vastly improved.

God I remember having a 2003 Altima and I honestly thought it was a piece of crap. I remember when in the dead of winter, if I came to a complete stop at say a stop light, the damn thing would start blowing ice cold air into the car. So, I had to either just deal with it every time I stopped, turn off the heat/defroster or rev the engine 3 times to get 30 seconds of hot air before it would blow cold air again. Then there was the fact that it would decide it wanted to fishtail at any given time. I mean I would have to take entrance and exit ramps on the highway at 15mph and even then, I could still fishtail. I just did not have fond memories with this vehicle. Hopefully things have changed in recent years, because I kinda like the look of the newer 2013 models and such.

@drunkenp0t The QR25DE tends to run a fairly rich air/fuel mixture so it is very likely that not all fuel is being combusted in the cylinders and instead combusted in the precat, which can cause it to break apart into small pieces. These substrate pieces get sucked back into the cylinder and damage the cylinder walls, ultimately causing increased oil consumption. It certainly doesn’t help that the precat sits so close to the engine. Get A Header Off E-Bay Or Something ASAP !
