Well I should have added that they wont have zero mileage, but a working engine is still better than nothing. Anyway, Nissan used this engine in a number of vehicles so they're abundant in scrap yards, and its not hard to haggle one down a hundred bucks.

those aren't fog lights, they turn on whenever you are using your signals for safety..its pretty cool..the fog lights are right next to the headlights..

My parents bought this car in 2003. They pretty much got all the upgrades. It was a very good car, when it was running. One time, a random couple was following us home because of how cool the car looked! Unfortunately, this car had a lot of issues. It might look like a good first car but I don't recommend anyone buying it. It was a shame because it had a lot of cool features like that panoramic sunroof and the automatic seat and steering wheel.

The old Maximas from the beginning to the 2006 models had issues, but they fixed it with the 2000 Maxima GLE. Other than that the Maximas are pretty dope.

It'll last, trust me. I have a 2005 SE and it just hit 140k miles. The only transmission problem I have is it jerks when you drive when the car is not fully warmed up. Besides that, you just know when the car is shifting gears, it's not an actual jerk. I beat the hell out of my car stepping on the gas (it's fast, what can I say). And I believe it'll last me a long time (I travel over 200 miles a week from and to school and work) Good luck! Take care of the car (oil changes do help)

This is my FAVORITE BODY STYLE of Maxima... I had a chance to purchase one a couple of years ago, but the owner wasn't honest about the maintenance which made me hesitant on the known transmission issues they had.. I hope to own a Manual Maxima someday..

@columbuscrewfan20 The 6th gen comes with two sunroofs. One is a power roof and the other is what Nissan calls a sky view roof which does not open. You can basically call it a semi panoramic roof. I prefer the sky view, because it adds a sort of uniqueness to the car. I get plenty of comments about it when I'm at the car-wash.

Go for the maximas 2003! 2004 is when renault and nissan made an alliance. 03 maxima is really reliable just as reliable as 95-99 maximas. 00 and 02 maxima won't hurt either :)

My mom has a used G35X 04. Its a completely different animal compare to the 02 maxima. Drove an 08 when the G was in the shop. I thought the 04 was more comfortable but the 08 was nice looking and much faster.

The 3.5 SE is more sport oriented, has the 18 inch 350Z styled rims and has a bit of a stiffer suspension and rougher ride, the 3.5 SL is more luxury oriented, has the 17 Inch altima styled rims and has more of a smoother ride. the SL comes standard with Xenon headlights the SE it's an option to have Xenon lights, the SL come standard with Leather seats and the SE it's an option, the SL comes standard with VDC (stability control) the SE it's a option

My dad had a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE. In 2007 the alternator wend bad and the car was running kinda rough. It had 120,000+ miles on it when we got rid of it. Is it common for the alternators to go bad on 2000-2003 Nissan Maximas or other Maximasat a certain mileage? He now has a 2007 Infiniti G35x. I like Nissan Maximas though. But on this one, I don’t like the glass going down the center and the new Maxima styling is slowly growing on me. I also like Nissan Altimas.

Go with the Altima, its faster and it doesn't have the infamous tranny problems this generation of Maxima's had. After 2003 nissan really took a bullet with their flagship sedan. The current gen maxima might look good but doesn't feel any kind of sportiness the 2002-03 gen did b/c of the damn CVT.

That's funny- it just confirmed my belief that our 05 Maxima has a distorted tone in its horn- still has two, but one is much higher. Anyways, the transmission is going at 50k, its got the turning radius of a semi, the jumpiest throttle this side of a Brabus, and everything that is chrome is now yellow and peeling- after 4 years.

The Maxima is the higher end model, the Altima is more like a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. Some quick differences: The interior materials are mostly plastic in the Altima, the Maxima has mostly soft surfaces in the front and back, it has dual zone automatic climate control, comes standard with heated seats and steering wheel, V6 engine (good performance even by today's standards, it outruns most 2 door cars), etc. Some of those things are only options on an Altima even in 2014. Some Maximas (4 seater) have 4 heated seats, automatic sunshade, etc. and they're cheap now for 2004-2006, but one thing to keep in mind is they tend to have a transmission problem around 150k km for this generation.

No they don't. 5th gens are pretty solid in general and they're older. The even older gens with the 3.0 were solid as well just not as powerful. Only the '02-'05's had issues with oil consumption a bit, but even then that's like the only problem really. Considering some other cars have catastrophic failures waiting to happen, topping off the oil periodically is not that big of a deal when the rest is well put together.

not really...the front end is all that's different. it looks way more badass with the fogs in the bumper than the headlights but...different strokes for different folks. im looking into the 07 retrofit. both are boss.

Spoiler..Front grill Fog light Area.. Interior the spedometer isint individual circles anymore it all one big piece. the rear bumper in 07 08 comes with these little dots on it sometimes. the rims are different when it comes stock though it can come with any Maxima rims on it. ..You can barely tell the difference between 04 05 and 06 but you can always tell the difference btween 07 and 08 instantly. Due to rims rear bumper and front grill.

Pre Renault maximas are reliable fast, and luxurious. Nissan Maxima's after Renault begin their downhill trend towards unreliablity. This 2004 in ur video is notorious for expensive engine, transmission and other problems. That's the "Renault" that was hidden in this car all along. "Renaults" are best avoided.

Renault began lowering the maxima in 1999 with their crappy ignition coils. The 2002-2003 were worse than the 2000-2001. The 2004+ is much worse. Renault has turned nissans into expensive money pits as they age.
