Great video! - the Subaru OEM part number for the half-moon camshaft plugs is 11051AA070. These rubber plugs can shrink with age and also cause a leak.

Thank you. For sure, swap those out every time.

The trick to getting the coil packs out is to rotate them. If that's not working your motor mounts are worn and you need to jack the engine up .75"

A little rotate and wiggle combo seemed to do the trick.

What’s the trick to getting cylinder 2s coil pack back in? 🤣

Hi. Great movie! Did you unscrew the lower engine mounting bolts and lift the engine on the jack for easier access? or is this video shot without lifting the engine?

Thank you. I did the job without lifting the engine. If I had to do it again, I would loosen the motor mounts and safely jack the engine up to make life easier.

Do you have to torque the valve cover bolts to specs?
@autoobsessivegarage5 ай бұрын
The correct answer is always yes. Does it happen every time? Probably no. I’m keen to bust out the torque wrench on engine internals and crank bolts, but usually just tighten to feel in most other things. The big risk here is cracking the valve cover itself by over-torquing.

Do you have to empty the oil?
@autoobsessivegarage Жыл бұрын
You don’t…but it helps reduce the mess. The oil also dumps right into the heat shields located underneath making a mess and adding a burning smell for an extended time.
