I remember calling my Dad, back home in Maine from Texas, as soon as the Final Out was recorded and just crying with each other!!! My Grandfather never got to see this moment, and I was honestly afraid my Dad wouldn't either!!! Forever a New England Sports Fan!!!

So glad Curt Gowdy narrated this story. He was the best broadcaster of his time. Glad he lived long enough to see them finally win one.

As a 13 year old kid, this was the most amazing thing that had ever happened, and it still gives me goosebumps every time i see it. Back in those days i thought of this: 1918-2004 = 86 years (1986 our last world series appearance until then) 1986-2004 = 18 years (1918 our last world series championship until then)

I remember watching the final game of that WS. Half way through my dad, a diehard Red Sox fan, fell asleep on the couch. When that ground ball was hit for the last out of the 9th I yelled “dad it’s about to happen, don’t you want to see it!?” And he mumbled “beating the Yankees in the ALCS was the World Series for me”.
@seanlanglois86204 жыл бұрын
I got to watch this with my dad before he passed my dad was a boy from Charlestown longtime red Sox bruins fan and I don't think I've ever seen his eyes light up for any championship like they did for the the sox

Was awesome to see Ellis Burks finish his career by winning WS with the Sox, having started his career with the team so many years earlier. An oft-injured, but outstanding player whose career numbers would probably surprise most (.291/350+ HR/1200+ RBIs and Runs). His '96 season with Colorado was historic. Congrats Ellis.

He also helped the 1988 Red Sox team beat the Yankees to win the Eastern Division, a pennant race sort of forgotten. The Red Sox won 5 of 7 against the Yankees in the final two weeks, including an incredible 10-9 win at Yankee Stadium on a Friday night, Morgan Magic.

I was blessed to see the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins win at least one championship. Not many can say that and even though, I saw the Patriots and Red Sox win several chips since 2001, the 2004 Red Sox will always be my favorite team and championship. The happiness they brought to this city was insane. Boston all day!!

Beating the Yankees and winning the title will never be matched. I loved the 2011 Bruins and Brady's comeback against the Seahawks and Falcons but the 2004 Sox is one of the greatest titles in sports history.

Schilling too, there was like a 4 year stretch where he owned them in the post season. In Arizona and Boston. Don't much care for his politics, but I was glad to have him on that team. And I suppose, I can forgive him his beliefs, after all, it is a free country.

My father was an avid Red Sox fan and was 13 yrs old when they won it in 1918. However, he passed away in 1973 and never got to see them win it again. I, of course remember all too well ‘67, 75, and 86 (Bill Buckner). I couldn’t believe the Sox come back over the Yankees and then winning it all in 2004. Now they are the first team in the 21st century w 4 World Series titles. That may stand for a while.

I just turned 9 and I remember my mom waking me up to the last 3 outs (I was grounded😂) and I still remember the goosebumps and the happiness I felt back then. It makes me tear up now thinking how long ago that was. Baseball will never feel the same to me. The bar will always be set that high for sports teams for me and no other team will achieve that.
