I have the 2003 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Sport edition with the V6. We have over 300,000 miles on it. We just need to get some paint work done, because the fenders paint is worn out, due to lots of car washes. We love our 4Runner and the V6 has plenty of power.

Heya. I have a 2006 Toyota 4runner with 275k miles on the chassis and frame, and 171k on the engine, transmission, and drivetrain (2007 parts). My engine has the check engine light, VSC Off, VSC TRAC, and traction control light lit up like a Christmas tree on my dash. Also, at very low speeds and at low throttle, this sound from exhaust (I don't know if my cats are shot) is like a high-pitched rattling sound, NOT like a rock bouncing around on youtube videos you'd look up online about shot cats. My O2 sensors are all new and have been replaced WITH spacers on them. I took my car to the local automotive shop, they said to fix this they would need to mess with the exhaust, put new O2 sensors on and take the spacers off, then diagnose from there to see what's wrong. It's going to be expensive from them... I also am wanting to do this myself... I have a mechanic friend that told me that my cats need to be replaced but I'm not so sure it's the problem just yet... Any suggestions?

Lovi it. I live in Knoxville, do you recommend to get one of those? Or better the next generation?
@thelimahotel68744 жыл бұрын
Arley López there are a couple great things that you loose when you go to the 5th gen that I’ve noticed. One big one is turning radius. The other is optional equipment. If you can find a well equipped limited 4th gen, that’s the way to go. Modern vehicles just nickel and dime you for rudimentary options. There are also a bunch of cool quirks about the 4th gens that people who have them learn to love. An example is the fold out “tray” that is in the center console. or the way the bezel on the back of the center console is meant to hold a trash bag. These are some of the many reasons that I am holding on to my 4th gen. The new ones sure look nice though!

@@thelimahotel6874 I'm looking to buy a 4runner either 4th gen or 5th gen Which one should I get and what should I look for? Does the center diff help for off roading?
@thelimahotel68744 жыл бұрын
Joshua Jay like my response to Arlen, the 4th gens are an incredible deal. I use the center locker quite often just to insure even traction. I would say that it does in fact make a difference having driven vehicles without center diff lockers. It makes the vehicle feel more predictable. Both ATRAC systems on either generation are fantastic with minor changes made into the 5th gen, with the most radical of which being crawl control and a terrain management system. You don’t necessarily need those to have a good day on the trail. Late 3rd and 4th gen ATRACs are plenty capable and will get you slightly closer to F/R diff lock performance, without sacrificing maneuverability. Long response but I hope that helps you out!

looks great, really is inspiring for my 4th gen sport edition i purchased 2 months ago. Will definitely be referring to this when I start mt mods. Questions: what kind of faint did you use on your wheels? where did you fin your black plastic pieces on your rack ? and are their any advantages to the front brush guard compared to a aftermarket number other than that fact that the brush guard looks a lot better? Im going to sub and keep an eye out for your vids thanks
@thelimahotel68746 жыл бұрын
Zach Harper the black rack caps are stock on non sport sr5 models. The paint on the wheels are an enamel engine paint however I have since painted them a matte stone grey. I hope to give an update potentially on those. In preference to a brush guard vs bumper, I like the looks of the brush guard better. As fas as pros and cons with the guard you loose some approach angle and you cant mount a winch, not to mention there is little to no crash protection other than small animals and parking misshaps. On the pro side there is far less weight your front end has to lug around, less cost, and also removability in the event of trade or any need to make it stock again. I have also looked into a low pro hidden winch mount and that way I can keep the guard and have a winch. I have found that as it sits, the approach angle with the guard is close to the same as the break over angle. So what I am able to go up I can almost guarantee I wont scrape anywhere else. It keeps me in check haha.

I'd like to be able to turn off traction control on my 2005 SR5 4Runner. Silver like yours. I put in Bilstein struts and shocks with the 1.75 lift in the front and then I put on Toyo MT tires( 255/75/R17) and I have no rubbing. That came out to a 3 inch lift for me. Please help me find instructions on doing the traction control turn off. That would be a major help. Also, putting the TRD sticker on is pretty cool. Nice job
@thelimahotel68746 жыл бұрын
So the instructions of how to do it are simple. All you do is locate the front of the break booster. There are two grey connectors on the lower right side. You are going to be disconnecting the smaller one on top. Once you have disconnected the plug you are going to be cutting the only red wire. You can use smaller 16ga wirw or some speaker wire and you are going to just connect 2 separate wires to both the wire running to the plug, and one from the rest of the harness. You then run those wires through the fire wall and into a standard on/off switch

The fog lights are not LED because they dont serve a purpose being LED? Then what is the purpose of any LED lights?
@thelimahotel68744 жыл бұрын
AnotherDave If I could find a warmer color led to use for the fog lights, I would probably switch to LED. Most options that fit those projector fog lights are 5.5-6.5K in color which refracts light in fog. Hence why I am sticking with the warmer color halogen bulbs which don’t refract as much light back towards you in dense fog. In many aspects I am more about function over form. If you have a bulb suggestion, I would love for you to send it my way. I haven’t had much luck finding what will work with protectors. I believe by best option for LEDs would be using a colored plastic film over the lenses. But I’m not sold on the look of that. Thanks for the comment!

That brush guard is going to destroy your front end if you tap anything on the trail

Zr2 Chris I’ve had it on for nearly 5 years and have plowed dirt and pushed mature trees with it time and time again. No damage to speak of. Unlike other brands, mine is fully supported with both the lower frame mount as as well as upper support bars that run through to the upper subframe. This design is similar to how Setina push bars are mounted. I have also use it to push vehicles out of the mud and snow. No damage. It’s very beefy unlike other “eBay” branded brush guards. Definitely did consider this as many of my friends that had them had caused damage to their vehicles when the bar hinges into their bumper. I did quite a bit of research before selecting the one I went with. Not necessarily base on brand but the way it was structured
