Wolfe are you talking about the new 5th gens or 4th gens? Because the new 4runners have no option for a V8 whether you order from the the factory or not the only way you could get a V8 in a new 4runner is if you do a engine swap.

Im looking right as we speak at buying a 06 Sport V8 with 210k. Timing belt changed. $6k. You're happy with the V8 over the V6? I hear the reliability is very good. Should i look for anything other than for a rusty frame?

I kept my 2008 4Runner....Salsa red V8.....have almost the same set up as the kid...3" lift, TRD wheels, and Borla exhaust. Will never get rid of it. I have just turned 80K miles, drive it when ever and where ever. Toyota reliability and performance is something the big 3 can only dream of.

I have one of these 2006 V-8 beauties, but not pimped out like this one. Nevertheless, it is a superior vehicle, and better than you can buy brand new. I have 122,000 miles on this 14 year-old car and have no plans to ever replace it. Navy Blue, I love you, and not one single unscheduled repair or down time. Best SUV ever. Every time I take it in to my mechanic shop, they drool over it and ask if I want to sell. No way.

Great video! Just purchased a 2004 4Runner and I'm in love with it. Its nice to see a good review of the 4th Gen 4Runner to help others get some ideas from this film. The exhaust sounds great! Mine has the 4.0L and I wish I could of found a V8 4x4, but here in South Carolina its a bit difficult since we don't have much snow or offroad area's around my city in Charleston. Either way I'm planning to have some fun with my 2wd 4Runner in the near future!

I actually like the 4Runner (and with a V8 that is even more badass especially with that exhaust note) and have for quite a while. i would actually get one, they are nice on road and if they are the TRD versions they can be great off road and are super popular as an overlanding vehicle. My Marine bro just recently got one a 18 Toyota 4Runner for his wife and family, it rode extremely well and they are not low at all, they have nice ground clearance stock, but if one is use to driving LIFTED vehicles they may feel that way, but in comparison to others they are not. The 4Runner is the only one in its class to still be body on frame, and you can't go wrong with the Toyota's famed reliability ratings. Definitely a Bad to the Bone vehicle for sure. I like this segment it lets others with either a small channel on none at all to show off their custom trucks/SUVs. :)

I own too a 4runner V8 4.7 liter it is a wonderful machine. I owned a Tacoma V6 3.4 liter in the past, so I can compare both, and frankly I don't understand why Toyota stoped producing the 4runner V8 4.7, that is a huge mistake in my opinion. Regarding the fuel mpg, I believe it is a choice, either you have an economic 4runner or you have a V8 that use a few gallons more, both are wonderful machines.

@@natesprigg9653 Actually you can feel the difference when the power is at low RPM on the V8, compare to the V6 you will need to push higher RPM to have the same power. Unfortunately what I read is that Toyota will never put a V8 in new coming 4runner models, we will need to get a Sequoia.

The Toyota 4runner has always been one of my all time favorite SUV's. My other favorite is the XJ Jeep Cherokee from 1984-2001. Both are great off roaders and have huge a huge aftermarket support system. But I do prefer the 4runner over the XJ Cherokee because of Toyota's legendary reliability.

@zrunnin1379
@zrunnin1379 6 жыл бұрын
A buddy of mine did most of the job, but the biggest thing is to be careful with the existing bolts for the manifold and not to snap them. The space is tight and I am pretty sure he had to slightly lift the motor off the mounts for the driver side. I had to have a exhaust shop finish up the new magnaflow cats to the y-pipe also.

I need to do it soon. How difficult was the install? Do it yourself or have a shop do it? I think it's beyond my skills. Did you re-use old cats or install magnaflow high flow cats, or catless? Are you throwing any codes or have check engine light? Did you use O2 sensor spacers?

I'd guess it's to reduce the weight, but with a V8, his 4Runner wouldn't even notice a few hundred pounds less, so was it for off-road capability, or did it have to do with the lift kit or tire size? I'll stop guessing, & I'd appreciate it if someone could please let me know.

I went to the dealer to the 4runners lot and only one has the same color in the mirrors as the whole car the others has the mirrors painted in black. later I realized it was V8 Sport Edition and the key was hidden as they were probably waiting for a potential buyer knowing what he was buying. for hardest it looks I want it more and I end up buying it for 34K. I'm Driving it for 206821 miles and still a solic ride. I think is better to repaint it and keep it in good shape than buy a new one less no more V8 are build.

The V8 is actually slower than the V6. . bit harder to work under the hood and 4wd its always on also lower MPG . it does have a little more torque and thats about it,from a mechanic point of view if you are not going to be hauling anything heavy V6 is the way to go.

270hp and 330 pounds of torque from the 4.7 vs 266torque and 236hp from the 4.0. Massive difference

@@brandon8569 The V6 is all aluminum whereas the V8 is an iron block so the V6 should weigh a lot less. The V6 is also selectable 4wd so it's faster off the line than the always 4wd V8.

Your exhaust of a 4.7 v8 4runner sounds like a dodge ram 4.7, 5.7, and 6.4 hemi year 2006-2019 and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 and 5.7 hemi year 2005-2008.

I Was Looking To Buy A V8 4Runner With Lows Miles When I Came Across A 2003 Tacoma TRD With 43,000 On It. Couldn’t Pass It Up. It Now Has 64,000 Miles On It. She’s My Baby. My Next Toy Will Be The V8..

The V8 is cool but full time 4 wheel drive whereas the V6 came with the ability to switch between 2 w, or 4w low or high range. The V6 has plenty of offroad power and torque with way better mileage..

V6 only have a few more mpg so I wouldn't say "way more". It's not a night and day difference on gas between the v6 and v8. V8 for the win!!🎉🎉

Sad part is, the v6 is making the same horse power almost and way better mileage and optional 4x4 in and out the v8 is all time.

Robert Rogers, the V6 actually makes more h.p. than the V8. Having driven both, I bought the V8. It's got a lot more torque in the low end than the V6. Off road, I've got heaps of power on demand when it needs motivation.

Robert Rogers I disagree. I had a 2013 Tacoma V6 and currently own a 2003 4Runner with the V8. The V8 horsepower is only a couple of points lower, but produces more torque, which makes it better to drive in the mountains. I definitely notice the extra torque. And the 4Runner gets better highway mileage than I ever got out of the Tacoma. I normally got 13 liters per 100 km in the Tacoma on the highway and my last road trip, I saw 11/100 in the 4Runner.

Robert Destree I agree about the torque that is a fact! I had a 2001 tundra with the 4.7 now I have a 2006 4 runner I have pulled heavy loads with them both same trailer same equipment most of the time, the 4Runner with the 4.0 vvti out performs the tundra with the 4.7 in every way in my opinion you may have a different experience but it came to a point where I had to sell one so I chose the 4Runner to keep. I love it! Maybe it was the transmission in the tundra that made it feel like a dog with a load. I even have the same size tires to! I don’t climb mountains but 1 time a year if that so that doesn’t factor in.

My dad had a 2001 Tundra with the 4.7l, I think it's the transmission. It lagged with 3 4wheelers on the trailer, I pull a 6k pound tractor on a 18' trailer behind my 4runner and it will settle down into overdrive on the highway.
@rogerslawncare7260
@rogerslawncare7260 6 жыл бұрын
Brad Helton yes I think it’s safe to say the 4Runner outperforms the 1st gen tundra in every way. I have to say I can’t even feel the trailer behind the 4Runner.
