What are you talking about? Waldner in his prime never beat Liu Guoliang until 2000 and Liu Guoliang was close to retirement at that point.

@@pham1020 Are you serious?He learned how to read Liu Guoliang's serve.That's what Liu said after he lost in the Olympics. Liu without the serve is not much of a player.During Waldner's time the Chinese didn't get their players exposed to smaller tournaments to keep Europeans unfamiliar with their game.Kong Linghui was one of the first players who played around the globe but his 3rd ball game was crappy compared to general CNT level.

@@dickn.ormous1064 Kong Linghui also figured out how to play Waldner. From the Olympics 2000 to Waldner's retirement, KLH never lost to Waldner - he beat Waldner 5 in a row. Another player who figured out how to play Waldner was Jorgen Persson. Waldner benefitted a lot from the hidden serve.

@@hillsideonly He overcame Ma Lin in the short game something fat Hao with his ¨advanced¨flicking couldn't in dozens of tries so he definately has a case.Current Chinese players struggle with Ma Long's push-smashing style which is less advanced compared to what Ma Lin used to do.
