I think i bought that exact unit. Hes right! Make sure to check the seal where those top three bolts are. On mine they didnt tighten it evenly. Had to redo it, before assembly.

Looks like Dorman hit a Homer with that. My 06 v6 is using antifreeze but I see no leak whatsoever. It never gets hot on the gage but I notice it's low on coolant because I had no heat, so checked coolant and it was real low ( half gallon to 3/4). It's still disappearing and I smell it a little but see no leak. I wonder if this is my issue. This doesn't appear to be to tough of a job unless you just made it look easy. Thanks for this vid, it might be my issue and need to watch again. Subbed.

Same issue on my 2008 currently. Bought the aluminum one to install later.

Thanks for the video is very helpful! Question, after you let it idle and warm up with the heater. Are you suppose to remove the coolant cap to let the air out before testing it for a drive or drive it, let it cool, and then remove the cap? This part got tricky for me lol. Im new at this.
@nicklldoit7 ай бұрын
Yes, I would do this a few times actually. It usually takes care of itself when you add coolant.

Also I have another question so idk if i need to replace the thermostat all together or get a new bypass hose? But from where you connect the bypass hose and the thermostat housing connecter its leaking fluid. Not sure if it’s just that the bypass worned out or its the plastic thermostat housing that failed on me. I heard they do tend to wear out since its plastic. Im waiting for the aluminum one now so i might just see from there where the problem is.
@nicklldoit7 ай бұрын
@@marlenea539 more than likely it's the plastic thermostat housing. I would do what I did and replace everything. You will end up doing everything at some point anyways.

Hi I installed the thermostat exactly how you mentioned in the video. I drove my car for more than 4 miles it was fine and all but then someone told me I had smoke coming out from the under the hood. I pulled over, opened the hood and There was coolant everywhere. I notice that the sensor came off I believe thats where the coolant came out. Also I noticed that i forgot to put the silver clasp to secure the coolant sensor. Y out think thats the case because at first it was running fine. Please help!
@nicklldoit6 ай бұрын
That sensor has to be secure with that clasp, it reads the temperature of the coolant. It must be plugged into the housing. At 4 miles your thermostat opened and let in more coolant flow.

@@nicklldoit omg i hope I didnt damaged my car because of that small issue. Yeah there was coolant everywhere. Also there was smoke do you think my engine has been compromised? I found the pin out and secured it and put in new coolant. But since there was smoke Im scared to even start my car. It was fine for s couple miles. The sensor was out after O opened the hood. Im sure it was because the sensor was not secured with the pin out.

Im so sorry to bother you but what do you suggest I do next? 😞

@@marlenea539 as long as your engine didn't fully overheat you should be fine. I'm guessing the smoke/ steam was coming from under your hood ..
@nicklldoit6 ай бұрын
@@marlenea539 refill the car with coolant after installing the sensor. Let the car idle until it reaches operating temperature, make sure to watch the temperature gauge and for any leaks under the hood. You should be okay.

@@Stone_Sour83 if your cooling system was working correctly coolant would be flying out of that thermostat housing where that hose is missing. Either you are missing a lot of coolant or your water pump has completely failed.
