Ford 4.0 V6 Thermostat housing leaking

If you own a Ford with the 4.0 V6 in it you know it's a really good engine and holds up well over time, BUT, you may also know it has a weak spot, the plastic thermostat housing leaking this housing is glued together and it will split at the glued seem and start leaking, this the 4th one on my car, but this should be the last as I found a housing that isn't glued, I'll show you how to install it.

don,t you get tired of these auto company cutting corners to save a buck.i remember when a gas tank had a drain plug.back in 1963 i was talking to a ford eng he said they were designed with the plug but when it went to cost analist they could save 30 cents by leaving the plug out .what a consept .so much for that.keep up the good work bill

Thanks Bill and your right, add a few things to make it better, if you ad these little thing and it cost 50 bucks more, just build it into the price, no one is even going to notice 50 bucks add to a car price, Lord Knows LOL

I'm about to replace mine for the third time on a Ford Ranger. The first time all three bolts broke off in the block so please, please use anti-seize! Ford charged me $45 dollars for those three little bolts and getting them out with a torch wasn't fun. My other tip is to tie thread to those little sensor clips when taking them out and putting them in because they WILL go flying and you WON'T find them. Trying to find replacements is going to be one of your nightmares. A long piece of thread and you can just reel them in. I'm going with the metal this time so this headache will finally be over. Watching videos so I don't screw the pooch on something simple that I didn't consider. I already saw one guy screw up because the plug on the sensor was keyed differently for a different vehicle and he had to redo it to get the right sensor in there. If there are any other "catches" to this let me know because I hate doing this job.

providing that o ring holds up all you have to do is pull top 3 bolts to change the thermostat? was there one in it for $70?
