2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 LEXUS GX470, RX350, 4RUNNER 2003 + KEY IMMOBILIZER PROGRAMMING

How to program the Key so you can start your vehicle when you purchase a spare key.
This will save you great deal of money when purchasing a new key, no need for locksmith, computers or purchasing cables for the lock/unlock features.
This process might work on other year models and some 4runner models.

Beware! You must have a "pre-cut" key blade in order to perform this DIY process. I highly recommend that you DON'T BUY a blank key online and try to get it cut by local Locksmith because most places don't want to cut a key they haven't sold, and they fear that some key blades made in China will have traces of steel that can damage their expensive cutters. 1010keys on eBay made and cut my keys just by sending a picture of your master key blade. Overall I found them to be much cheaper when the cost of blade cutting is added to any key purchase, and their work and 1 year warranty was a surprise..
I recommend them based on my great experience and simplicity of the process, however every case may be different so make the choice at your own risk. I'm not affiliated with or being paid by 1010Keys just trying to help all GX470 owners like me.

1. Start with the doors closed 2. Insert and remove Master Key 5 times leaving the key IN. 3. Open and close the door 6 times. 4. Remove Master Key. The red car light on the dash should light up solid. Insert new key and the red dash light should start blinking. Leave it in for about a minute for the computer to program the new key code. 5. When red dash light stops blinking it is done programming the new key. 6. Remove the new key and insert Master Key to turn on the car. Car should start. 7. Insert new key and make sure it also turns on and starts the car. 8. Not a bad idea to take both keys with you for the first long test drive in case

Awesome sauce! Order a set of fobs from Amazon took them to Lexus to cut, they said it was not going to work and I would need to buy their $250 blank. I said cut mine anyway came home followed your steps and Bang! It worked. I will do the 2nd key next week when I go get oil changed.

Finally got immobilizer to work after several attempts. Needed leave the key IN at the 5th insertion. Now I’m trying to get the remote lock/unlock to function. 4 unsuccessful attempts so far😏

I have a 2004 and It worked. But I had some issues. Bought the keys from 1010keys on ebay and their chip didn't work. Had to order a 4D68 chip from UHS hardware. It worked right away. After you close the door and remove the master key you should have a steady key light on. If it blinks 2 times and then 1 sequence you have the wrong chip. That was what happened to me.

First mey worked great. Second key gets to the programming mode and just blinks. I have done this 4 times for about 5 minutes or so each time and it wont stop blinking.

I don't have the original "master" key, but I do have an aftermarket key that is already programmed and works. Can I use that as a "master" key or do I need a true "master" key from Lexus that is programmed to my GX470 to get this to work?

Hello, I got my keys from 10101 guys and your video worked perfectly for programming the lock/unlock function. However, for the immobilizer programming, when you take your master key out the security light stays lit, mine is still blinking, and the programming doesn't take. Is it possible it is still stuck in the key lock/unlock programming mode? Thank you very much!

Hi I got a new key cut for my Lexus GX470. The key fits but wont turn. It stays on lock. I managed to immobilize the key, but even after that, the key wont turn from lock. Do you know any solution?

Compare both key cuts, they need to be exact. Chances are they were not cut properly, a 0.5 mm off can affect functionality.

You might have too many keys programmed in the SUV's computer and won't accept more keys. Try to read the steps on the description because I didn't do exactly the way it was suppose to as you can see towards the end. I know there's a way to check how many keys you have stored in the memory by changing the amount of times you insert the key and also do a reset. I'll look for that link and post here if I find it.

THIS IS WHAT I FOUND, TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. HOPE IT HELPS. I WOULD TRY THE PROCEDURE THAT CHECKS HOW MANY REMOTES YOU HAVE PROGRAMMED IN THE MEMORY AND THEN AN ERASE AND RE PROGRAMMING OF THE OTHER REMOTES. THERE MAY BE MORE INFO ON OTHER FORUMS LIKE IH8MUD, ETC. SEARCH FOR GX470 REMOTE PROGRAMMING AND READ THE FORUMS. So just to be clear, it's a 2-step process. There is the process to program the key to lock/unlock the doors, and then a separate process to program the immobilizer to start the vehicle. The procedure below programs the lock/unlock, then the smart keymaker programs the immobilizer: Driver’s door open, all other doors closed, key removed from ignition switch. Within 5 seconds: Insert and remove the key from the ignition switch twice. Within 40 seconds: Close and open driver’s door twice. Insert and remove the key from the ignition switch. Within 40 seconds: Close and open driver’s door twice. Insert the key into the ignition switch and close the driver’s door. Switch ignition ON and OFF: Once to program a key remote transmitter code whilst retaining the original codes. Twice to program a key remote transmitter code whilst erasing the original codes. Three times to check how many key remote transmitters are currently registered. Five times to erase all registered codes. Remove key from ignition switch. System should now lock and unlock vehicle once, twice or five times depending which mode has been selected. One to four times, slowly, to indicate number of remote transmitters registered. Within 40 seconds: Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons Fig. 1 or Fig. 2 simultaneously for 1.5 seconds. Within 3 seconds: Press and release LOCK or UNLOCK button Fig. 1 or Fig. 2 . System should now lock and unlock vehicle. Once to confirm registration or twice to indicate registration has failed. Within 40 seconds: Repeat button procedure to program remaining key remote transmitters. NOTE: To exit programming mode: Open driver’s door or insert ignition key. NOTE: A maximum of 4 key remote transmitters can be programmed. Reply

Unfortunately I tried it and it didn't work, then tried the procedure that tells me the number of keys programmed and nothing happened, I'm not very comfortable with trying to delete the previous keys as it might leave me without any working keys. Anyway let me dig more on ih8mud, maybe i'll post the question there if I don't find anything, I appreciate your help, thanks for the videos.

@@imambaybars3405 it could be your remote transmiter malfunctioning. Make sure you have the correct one. Did you buy it from 1010Keys on eBay or somewhere else? Saw numerous complaints from people that bought keys from unreliable sources. If that was the case try 1010keys and tell them I sent you. I'm not affiliated with them but we did develope a good relationship after I purchased my keys from them. They went the extra mike to do things right and in return to their actions I did recommend them on my video discription, they are aware of it and thank me for doing that. I wasn't compensated or offerd anything in exchange other then help if I had any problem with the key.

@@CristianAPrimoATM I'm not sure where it came from originally, I got it with the car because the owner only had one key so he gave me an extra blank he had bought, and I had it cut locally for $35, the locksmith asked for an extra $70 to program so I'm trying to do it myself, I'm not sure he would've been able to program it anyway if there's something wrong with the key. I think I'm going with 1010keys if I couldn't get these to work soon, thanks for the recommendation.
