Hi, I always use this feature. The thieves use to go to your home to steal your car. From a report I read, now the thieves wait for the right car at the mall for example. Thieve 1 stand by your car, thieve 2 follow you, get the signal, send it to thieve 1, than your car is gone . Turn off your key fob every time you walk away from your car, especially if its one of the most popular to be stolen in your area.

Great info! One added note about turning off the key faub transmission is that doing that also prevents car thieves from using faub hacking technology to steal the car. If the car is parked in close enough proximity to a house wherein keys are left near the door, the thieves use a program to boost the faub signal between the faub key and car faub, then transfer the code to a new blank faub which allows them to start and drive off with the car. Turning off the faub key protects the car from theft. It’s simple and easy to turn back on.

We like to create a car binder or add to the existing binder for every car we buy and I like to take a picture and place it all into the binder. Or take pictures and organize it into my emails (by emailing myself). Or organize files on my smart phone. Now I just remove that tiny metal code from the key fob. Now all four doors unlock and before you can get in and lock the doors, someone following you/ambushing you can also get in. 6:11 - Another "smart" feature, unlocking the doors automatically. So you are in the drive-thru ATM and shift to park while getting money. All the doors unlock and some guy jumps in you relieve you of the burden of all that cash. All those wacky Toyota software engineers who have never been to America need to make a trip here some day, drive around in one of their new vehicles, especially at night and in inner cities, and see what a great idea they had with these 'features".
