So I figure no need to bleed the system because you never added any air? And I noticed no turning of rotors, is this because the pads were not worn enough? I thought it might be safer to turn them

Rule of thumb: If the vehicle does NOT shake when you step on the brakes, or there are no DEEP grooves, you do not have to turn them. You do not have to bleed the brakes if you do not open the system midway.
