2005 Hunter Bayport 42” Ceiling Fan w/ Westinghouse Light Kit

This is a 2005 Hunter Bayport 42” ceiling fan, model 27406, fitted with a Westinghouse 3-light kit. It’s currently the new fan installed in my room, replacing the 44” Hunter Holden. This fan is a discontinued model, but I was able to order it new-old-stock from the Home Depot. It has a very classic look with a clean white finish, four reversible white/light oak blades, and a 3-speed, electrically reversible motor. It packs plenty of power for a 42” fan, easily outperforming many other fans I’ve seen of similar size and design. It really shows the quality of these older Hunters. The light kit looks great and provides plenty of light, especially when fitted with LED bulbs. I’m really happy with this install, and my choice for the fan and light kit. This is definitely here to stay in my room for a while, perhaps unless I find a vintage fan that I find highly compelling. Thanks for watching!

Agreed! Usually I like brass finishes on ceiling fans but this particular fan actually looks great in white. The colour scheme of white & light oak matches the furnitures in my room quite nicely too!

Agreed! The light oak finish on this fan was very well done by Hunter. I was debating on which side of the blades I should face downwards, but I’m glad I went with the light oak.

There are some newer hunters that perform very well still, it’s mostly the home felt exclusive ones you want to avoid and such.

That’s very true. Hunter fans nowadays seem to have a pretty big contrast between their low and high-end models. I like some of their new modern style fans. I’ve noticed that their lower-end fans are not very impressive in performance.

I was thinking of buying this ceiling fan but I'm not sure because of the humming sound of the motor. Is this sound loud enough to be heard while sleeping? Does it cause headaches? Will this sound disturb the neighbors upstairs at night? I would be really appreciate if you answer my questions.

It depends on your noise tolerance. It does hum a bit more than some other ceiling fans I've used, but I personally don't find it annoying nor hard to sleep with it on. I would say it's better to look for an alternative if you prefer not to take a chance.

Huh really? I wasn’t sure whether or not these blades were wood or MDF but based on my inspection they look like MDF, though you could very well be correct. Thanks for the info!

J'en ai un fini laiton antique de 2001 fabriqué en Thaïlande. J'aimerais un jour en trouver un en laiton poli mais ils sont rare dans ce fini. Ils sont effectivement plus beaux sans la lumière. Tu n'as pas de lampes de table, de lampes au mur et ou de lampadaires?

I remember watching your video of your’s a while back. I think the antique brass looks the best of all the options! And yes I definitely agree that it looks better without the light kit. I do have lamps that I could use but I prefer to have the light source up high close the ceiling for maximum brightness and light coverage in my room. I might consider looking into alternative lighting options so I could have this fan without the light kit.

You got it! Yes I plan to start diversifying my fan collection with some ceiling fans as well. I’m not moving away from portable fans in any way, but from now there might be some ceiling fan videos popping up here and there!

Officially, no. This model was discontinued quite a long time ago, maybe around 2011. But the Home Depot in Canada still sells some leftover stock online. So yes, if you’re in Canada, they can still be bought.

@@TheSuperFanMan Hunter Bayport are still made today in white, antique brass and brushed nickel. The bright brass version is still available but only through USHA. The white and bright brass version was discontinued a long time ago. It's the rarest finish for Bayports. A contemporary Hunter Bayport would have a different canopy and switch housing from the one you have. These changes were made sometime between 2011 to 2014.
