2005 hyosung 250r starting issues

The solenoid is making a clicking noise. And simply wont start. Any advice or tips would be helpful.

I've got a 2009 250. Mine did the same exact thing and because parts were cheap enough for most things. I wasn't going to second guess stuff so I ordered a new starter. 2 coils. Selonoide. And a new battery because I bout it used with a 1000 miles on it. Turns out still the same clicking sound. As I put my ear to the sound I found it was the black relay switch located next to the selonoide on the right. After finally getting that it still did same thing so the only thing left was the most expensive part of the bike which is the cdi box. Fortunately be for u spent the 600 on that thing I sat and really looked and found somehow the wireharness in the front had been broke in 2 places causeing the circuits to not complete. It took 3 seconds to fix that for zero dollars. Boy I wish I would have started there. Good luck on yours bud

Sounds like your starter is frozen, or there is a short between the solenoid and starter

Clicking means that starter solenoid is working. No cranking at all means that not enough electrical power is delivered to starter motor; check starter cable and electrical connections. My thinking is that the thick cable and/or electrical connection is not so good, those are my suspects.

Take your multimeter out and put the leads on the wire that leads to starter (+) and ground (-) to battery. This checks to see if you have voltage getting to the starter when you hit and hold starter button.

Mine does that too but if you fuck around with it and keep trying it eventually starts up no problem. Have a new battery and spark plugs in it. Usually does that upon first starting it up. After it’s been warmed up it doesn’t really do that so I’m also wondering what the issue may be. Wondering if the button is just bad

The problem is in self starter motor right side below ur engine Its carbon Got burn you can repair it buying new carbon or can replace the starter motor itself 😅 Hope you will Got your problem solved

Hey I had the same problem. apperently the stater thread got lose and got stuck in the flywheel. take the side of the starter motor area off. you will find it.

hey jyron, so apperently I am just seeing the message up now. I sold my bike last year. mechanically mint 2007. so if you are having the same bike. the issue is that part of the engine seized by a lose bolt. this is most likely in the stater area which is located in your left hand side of the shifter area. you will need a brand new gasket because once you open it all the oil in the machine will empty up as well. unfortunately I didn't do the video for my bike. just open up the bike. if you take to mechanic. will charge you 1000$ with parts and labour.

You can verify if the Starter works by making a by pass to SOLENOID

Apparently you can push start, down a hill in neutral then throw into first. If it is the starter this will bypass it. If it doesnt then not the starter.

the engine was seized. if you try to bump start it, and it doesn't start. that's the issue.

Idk if this will help but that solenoid looks backwards cause on my 2008 hyosung 250R that third black cable is facing the engine not towards yourself

Take the starter motor out and the trouble will be clearly seen. Mine had a seized starter motor.

Hi I did not know if you still had the problem or not but just noticed this was put up in 2016. I had a similar problem and when I took the starter motor out it was seized solid. I bought a new one from Hyosung in Korea and had no worries after that. The bearings had seized up in the old starter motor. If you run these bikes hard they do not last. I am 65 years old and never go over 70 MPH and so mine is lasting a long time. The starter is the only problem that I have had.

I have the same sort of shitty problem on my GT125R, same year as yours, I've been reading and watching videos, seems like it's the rectifier / regulator, looks like a little heat sink, left side of the bike just underneath the fairing by the edge of the tank. I've heard that you can swap rectifiers to anything as long as the two bolt holes line up, can anyone confirm this please? I was thinking about trying a rectifier from a Suzuki SV650 seeing as the OEM ones are shit, it's got a Suzuki engine after all and the SV650 is a V twin too.

Johny40Se7en dude, I found out the engine was seized. if you have a running hyosung get rid of it man. that's my best advise. the part are expensive and hard to get.

+jyron bandy See if you are getting power at the starter motor when you press the button. If so, starter may be bad, or the motor might be seized. If you arent getting power there then you wired something up wrong or there is a break

Solenoid, fuse, broken connection somewhere use test light and touch all the wirings to the main starting part like the starter, fuel pump, etc I bet it’s a regulator rectifier problem tho it seems like you bike wants to die when attempting to turn on if it was the starter or fuel pump the bike would not try and die when you start it the light should stay on and the parts just won’t work lights shouldn’t be affected when trying to start it’s a batter or battery charging issue cheap fix

And if that don’t work order a relay selonoid and if your fuel pump primes when you turn the key then it’s a starter issue and a much needed new battery change the battery, relay selonoid, main relays, fuses, starter, fuel pump, since your gonna need them eventually anyways considering the bikes age is old. But to avoid buying a new starter simply test the starter with a test light that are dirt cheap and see if it’s getting power if not there’s your problem Need a new starter if your not getting power than it’s for sure your selanoid or relays and check you tpms just in case but if you do all those thing I promise you’ll have your bike up and running
