Prior to the X350 version of XJ (of which this is one) the Super V8 name came with the Daimler version of the model. When production of the X308 (the previous shape steel bodied vehicle) finished there was not at the time a Daimler version of X350 and the ‘top’ luxury model in the range became the Jaguar Super V8 with its 4.2 V8 supercharged powertrain. This was the same engine as fitted to the more ‘sporty’ XJR. As the X350 XJ’s were aluminium bodied the light weight of the vehicle coupled with the superb power from the engine made it ‘quite’ quick. The Super V8’s were later on predominantly LWB vehicles like this one, but the earlier cars before the LWB came in were all SWB. This vehicle looks to have the 19” Custom alloy wheels fitted to it, initially the standard fit wheels were 18” variants but later got bigger as time went on. The interior veneer (and full veneered steering wheel) is all Burr Walnut which would have been crafted in the wood shop at Browns Lane Coventry. Later in the life of the X350 XJ the Daimler variant of the model made a come back and was known as the Daimler ‘Super Eight’ - available with 2 unique Daimler colours of Westminster Blue and Garnett. These were also superb vehicles and as not a huge number were made (in the scheme of things) they were quite a rare sight then and are even more so today. Good luck to who buys this car - I’m sure they will enjoy it, lovely vehicles.
