Don't know if you still have the 4.0. The world record with a 4.0 was done with a turbo. 149 mph. Now if you wanted , or for other readers . A modest canned tune. An H pipe two free flow mufflers. Pro turned the modest v6 into a true dual exhaust. I wrapped the upper exhaust in header fiberglass. No need to change these because Ford gave the mustang V6 tuned headers. I installed DEI insulation on. all fuel lines all electric (coil ,battery plug wires. Accel Super cool,, I called Ford racing, who sent me a set of Coyote 'cables" 10mm silicone which I put together the terminal locking boots, called Holley who sent me 14k gold Terminal wires. Each was then also wrapped in DEI. YOU MAY NOTICE MY ATTEMPT to make everything stay cool. At the same time the entire engine bay is becoming heavy duty. Next I changed all fluids. Brake, Power Steering, Coolant, Transmission, Differential. New calipers and rotors. Wagner ceramic pads all around. Then car was lowered 1.5 in. Which was quickly followed by ever ball joint, control arms front and rear And ALL Bushings replaced. According.l to the guy that holds the record. The 4.0 is a Torque monster. It will never beat a car with an over all better speed But a standard, which has the T5 can be a GT killer Perhaps not in the 1/4 mile, but it could in the 1/8. You know stop light to stop light. And I know with the 93 race tune, it will snap your neck. And my first time with that tune I came on the highway and saw a spot between 2 trucks where It could get to n the left lane. Going right ghr center, center to left , took apx 3 seconds but she went from 40mph to 95 mph in that time. I decided that was a bit much for my daily driver. Oh and Competition Cams makes the only race cam known for the 4.0. That's if you are going for GT killer.

The 05 to 09 S197 V6 didn’t get the recognition it deserved. I have a 06 V6 that is my project car. Been told my entire life to drop it and get a V8 but id rather stick with the V6 cause it can do the same thing a V8 can do if you know what your doing to it. Sure, you can make a v6 as fast as a v8, but at what cost? I love my v6, but it’s not anywhere close to my cobra or 5.0. I think the v6 is a great starting platform, but wouldn’t recommend the 4.0 as a platform to make power.

@SVTEvan2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Don’t get me wrong, the 4.0 is plenty of fun as daily even at stock power levels. You can rip on it without really breaking too many laws lol. But my view is different when it comes to power. My stock 4.0 probably makes 170whp. With the mods you listed, MAYBE in the ballpark of 200-220whp (without nitrous). My 03 cobra makes 450+whp, weighs less and almost cost the same as my 4.0. So to me, the 4.0 doesn’t come anywhere near the same level of performance, nor should it. Two completely different animals. But hey, more power to you if you build the 4.0 and enjoy the power it makes! 🤝

Nope…can’t do it, gotta have my V8, and I’m not one who’s trying to outrun anyone either. With me it’s always been about the looks and sound because somebody is always gonna be faster ! I specifically switched to V8 Mustangs way back in 2002 for the sound alone, and as long as I can own one it’ll have 8 cylinders and bald eagles screaming out the dual pipes !! I currently own a torch red 06 GT that I found in 2019 with only 23,534 miles on her !! I’m the 2nd owner of the car and I absolutely love it, and let me just say that these 4.6 3 valve engines may be way out dated next to the Coyote 5.0 but damn they make a beautiful exhaust note when it’s done right !! BTW…I’m not hating on your V6.

My thermostat housing and serpentine belt went bad but other than that I've had bo problems. My v6 is all backed our with rims and I've had no bad talk about it. If you can afford to order it by all means do it. If you want a nice car to drive with a little bit of kick. V6 is the way to go. I got shorter headers, cool airintake, exhuast, spacer for throttle body. It sounds Mean and hits about 300 hp if you have someone tune

I owned a 1999 V6 Mustang and must agree it wasn’t comfortable to drive very far. My 2009 V6 Mustang is much more comfortable and with a resonator rather than a muffler sounds like it is V8 powered. Thing that gets me is unless your driving a Gt 350 or Gt 500, so you have a 5.0 V8, you’re not pushed by much more HP than a V6. 2001 Mustang Gt Bullitt with the 4.6 is pushing around 265 HP.
