2005: San Fransisco 49ers vs Washington Redskins Remastered NFL Highlights

The 2005 Redskins are a team to be fondly remembered. Their 11 wins (playoffs included) was a team best for the 2000's, and their 5-1 NFC East record was the best in the division. This Washington team also accomplished the rare feat of defeating every NFC opponent they faced at least once over the course of the season.
For coach Gibbs, this particular win must've provided some measure of satisfaction - Gibbs' 80's teams struggled badly going 2-8 against SF from '81-'92 (ouch). The '05 Redskins earned Gibbs a little consolation, hanging 52 points on the visiting 49ers, their highest point total since the '91 56-17 laugher over the Falcons (see it here! • 1991: Atlanta Falcons ... . Clinton Portis finally scored his first rushing TD of the season (two in the game, in fact - what took so, long?) as Brunell, Moss, Cooley and the Redskins offense had a red-letter day against rookie Alex Smith (familiar name...) and the woeful Niners on this picture-perfect, sunshine-soaked October afternoon outside Washington.
Remastered from VHS to 1080p(ish) digital, on equipment also used to process soy, dairy and peanuts.

I’ll never forget it. My dad and I were at this game. Before it started he looked at me and said “the Skins are gonna put up 50 points today…” I thought he was crazy but he sure was right!

I loved this 2005 team. Everyone on that roster and Gibbs at the helm. The 5 game streak to end the season. These guys had grit and had fun. Mike Sellers was a Redskin back in 98 until Schottenheimer and I was so happy when he came back in 04. He was a great fullback and underrated outside of Washington despite his later pro bowl seasons.

The one game I missed when I was 13 years old because my mom wanted the family to take a day trip to Boston (we had traveling benefits, so we could fly to anywhere within the US for free) and technology still wasn’t as advanced so you couldn’t keep track of what was going on in the league like you can now. We got back around the evening after having been constantly going here and there and unable to find the score anywhere, and my younger brother and I quickly got off the plane to check the final score after we had landed in DCA, and we stationed ourselves before a restaurant by the gates which had a bunch of TVs airing the later games. An old guy came up to us and asked us which score we were looking for. We told him that we were trying to find the score to the skins game, and we were worried that Washington might have been typical Washington and blow it against a Niners team that was far from their glory days, when the old man told us, “Oh, boys, well, the redskins won 52-17” Our eyes exploded with joy: the Skins scoring 52? Papa Johns giving out - the day after- Seven free toppings for each touchdown they scored? The season wasn’t over yet??? Gibbs didn’t return us to the top of the mountain, but he had us climbing with hope for a couple of seasons, giving us memorable moments that when you look back and say, yeah we didn’t win, but it was a fun year. Sometimes I find it sad that fans only measure the quality of a franchise based on championships won, but in this case the journey overweighted the destination, and not everyone is gonna win, and not every winner will win all the time, but if you try to win then great things will happen whether you win or lose, and Joe Gibbs got this team to try and win

Very nicely said and you're absolutely right, sounds like you had a blast while trying to find out the final score from this game back in 2005, that day sucked for me, while I was watching this game, my Niners got smashed on this particular Sunday afternoon, ouch 🏈🏈🏈🏈

I have serious and big time respect for the Redskins (never the Commanders) including this game from 2005 at FedEx Field, a near perfect executed game from the Redskins over my useless 49ers at the time, very nicely done, with all of that being said, I was hoping that you can honor a couple of requests for me, are you able to upload two other games between the 49ers and the Redskins, they were from 1998 at FedEx Field, I think that game was a Monday night game, and then another game that happened ten years later between the 49ers and the Redskins at Candlestick Park in 2008 that went into overtime, please get back to me and let me know if you can make it happen with posting those two games for me, thank you so much for your time, Redskins + 49ers= Respect 🏈🏈🏈🏈👍👍👍👍

I believe this was a bounce back game after a horrible 36-0 loss at the Meadowlands vs the giants! I believe there owner passed away and they were extremely fired up and we weren't..lol Httr!

Yeah that was Wellington Mara’s ghost playing as the 12th man of that game. Nobody would have beat the Giants that day, not even the 2007 Patriots, and I was happy we got even later on in the season

I remember FOX switched this game out for Packers/Vikings because this was such a blowout. I think they did it for viewers outside the home region. I was a teenager living in NC then. We didn't have Sunday Ticket. I was pissed. 😅
