I think both Eric & Stephanie are wrong. True as an artist, Eric's creative vision is Forrester Creations, but it was under the aegis of the patrician Douglass brood of Lake Forrest, Illinois that transformed Eric's dream into a reality. In this particular case, John Douglass wanted to ensure that if Stephanie wed Eric she would be protected and judging by his son-in-law's response Mr. Douglass was correct. Eric says they have an "equal partnership" and yet both seem to forget about that respect in the end. Seems like its more of a game of oneupmanship to me. Add Brooke's unsolicited two cents into the mix and then surprise you have a brewing train wreck. Exactly where does Brooke Logan get off telling Stephanie Forrester that she has zero rights to an empire the original Mrs. FORRESTER helped build? How did exactly Brooke get to where she was again? Certainly not on "talent" alone! Just another example of that woman's opportunism taking precedence over other equally important priorities in life. Despite her shortcomings, Stephanie at least was never tempted to bed her daughter's paramours/beaus-much less bear their offspring- which is is Brooke's skanky flaw!
