2005 Town And Country Alternator Replacement

In this video I'm replacing the alternator on a 2005 Town And Country.

No need to take the wheel off. I just changed mine without jacking it up. Everything is accessible from above. Remove the snorkel from the air box to give you room to loosen the tensioner. I used a big torque wrench for that. No special tool needed.

working on vans is very limited to space, I do not like working on vans, you did a good job. maybe go back to that junk yard and get the clip off the other van and cut your off and solder the replacement back on with shrink wrap.

That alternator connector (pigtail) can be purchased at most automotive retailers (if you need it). It is a very common item. Nice work Hector.

Here's A good trick, it works well. Hey mcross this when I did the Van yesterday. I did not have a tensioner wrench in my wrenches. Would not fit between the frame and the tensioner. Guess what we did. The wrench that you use that comes with the Van to take the lug munches off. Also has a little screwdriver end. This end fits perfect as a key For the tensioner. Make sure everyone knows this trick to save money. Thank you, my name's bill Taylor see, bring Florida.😊

There's a small hole near the tension pully where you can put a Philip's head screwdriver to keep the tension off the belt thats what that hole is for

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the serpentine belt. Remove the Alternator bolts. Let the Alternator dangle. Remove the EGR valve. Lift the old Alternator from the engine compartment. Place the new alternator inside the compartment and let it dangle. Install the EGR Valve. Mount the new alternator. Install the EGR Valve. Make all the electrical connections. Install the serpentine belt. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. NOTE: Do not use 12 point sockets or wrenches. You WILL be sorry.

Not necessary to jack it up, take off the wheel, inner wheelwell shroud, or buy a tensioner tool.... take out the air filter box... put a jack under the engine...remove the top motor mount.... jack up the engine and the tensioner can be accesed with a 1/2" breaker bar

When you toke the second bolt off what is that part its connected to not the alternator but the other side the bar thing lol mine broke and I xant find the part anywhere because idk what I'm looking for

7:48 to 7:53 how is using the ratcheting part of a gear wrench going to mess up the wrench? That's the entire purpose of having a gear wrench...being able to turn a wrench in tight spots.

I don't remember but what I do remember is that you have to know which one goes to van. The best thing to do is to go to the auto parts store give them the vin number of the car.
