As you have the front wheels in the air is it possible to just push one wheel to turn it ? Would that be quicker or wouldn’t it work?
@svagisen9 ай бұрын
You technically can do it that way. The steering is heavy. It's much easier to use the steering wheel.

thank you for making the video I was having a hard time finding the easy way to flush it , there is only one thing I didn't understand , what do you mean crank one wheel to the right and then to the left ? could explain that to me a little more please ? thanks !
@svagisen3 жыл бұрын
Glad I could help! I watched the video again to see where I may not have made sense. I probably spoke incorrectly. What I meant is that you turn the steering wheel all the way from the right to the left... lock to lock. Turn it until it will not turn anymore, then all the way back to the other side.

Hey, loved the video it was really informative and kinda the only XC90 power steering change video on the net xD Could you temme how many liters or quarts of PSF it took to do this?
@svagisen Жыл бұрын
hey, thanks for the kind words. if I remember correctly, I used 1.5 liters.

I’ve seen both CHF 11S & your 202 being recommended. I have an 06’ and planning on doing the same service along with new pump. What should I use?
@svagisen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. It looks like both are ok. according to the actual owner's manual found here: volvo.custhelp.com/app/manuals/ownersmanualinfo/year/2006/model/XC90 on page 177, it says to use the CHF 11S or equivalent. When Isearched the part number provided in the manual, it had been superceded with this fluid: www.volvopartswebstore.com/products/volvo/power-steering-oil/Power-steering-oil/1112925/30741424.html

I just messed up my volvo power steering i added autozone brand fluid now the power steering is really hard to move . its only smooth when i rev the car on idle . should i flush it and put this green stuff or its late for that .
@svagisen Жыл бұрын
Ugh - I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not a Volvo Mechanic, and I don't feel comfortable offering advice officially. If it were me, I'd flush the fluid ASAP. I wouldn't drive it again until I had the ability to flush it, if that was possible. Look up the correct fluid for your car...don't just assume it's the stuff I showed. Good luck! I hope everything is good after you get the correct fluid in there.

Hi, do you remember the diameter of the hose?
@svagisen2 жыл бұрын
3/8 inside diameter. I have links in the video description for the hose and "mender" kit I purchased. Thanks for watching.

Not quite that simple. The owners manual is wrong in quite a few places, this included. It only lists the green stuff, but depending on the year of your car you may either have the red or green variant. So I do not think your variant was wrong. Probably the one it came with
@svagisen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that. Based on the condition of some of the other fluids and parts on my car, I'm 99% certain it was the wrong fluid. It smelled like Transmission fluid.

That’s the right power steering and it’s green lol. Don’t go to the dealers same stuff $50-70 range you can buy on any reputable website and get them from used be $17 but inflation $20-40 range
@svagisen2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the mark-up from dealers sometimes is intense. I got mine from FCP euro's webstore.
