Thanks for the help on this. My car hasn't been running for a month and a half. Now I can drive her again, and this was a huge help.

Thanks for the info. Even though I am working the left side as my fuel sender unit has a leak at the return line connection, it helped. I would like to add that taking the top cover off is very difficult as it is sealed on so well. I tried to repair the area with liquid poly and sealant but it is now leaking again so I will have to replace the sending unit plus remove the cover on the right side to connect the lines of the sending unit. My first thought was the leak was from the two plastic fuel lines but after spending a lot on them I saw fuel coming from the return line connector. I hope this will help someone that has a fuel leak. You don't have to go under the car unless replacing the two fuel lines which probably are not leaking.

Helpful video. We didn’t have the tool to take out the fuel pump cover but we managed with 2 hammers & 2 pry bars.

GREAT VIDEO!! Guys listen to him! You need to order that tool. There's no way to remove that ring without that tool. I had to. Also I had to spray some WD40 around the ring to loosen it. It's locked in there. Thanks again. :)

I just did it tonight without the tool, I just used a hammer and a dull chisel. I didn't think it would work because everyone says it won't, but it took me about 10 minutes of working it and BOOM! Whole job took less than an hour. Saved me a thousand dollars by doing it myself. 2007 ML350.

Dear Mr.Koby: I just wanted to point out a small flaw in your video. It's indeed helpful but it lacks a very important detail when it comes to loosening the fuel pump retaining nut. ATTENTION: YOU HAVE TO PUSH DOWN ON THE NUT, with or with out the special tool. BTW, we used a FORD fuel pump removal tool, it worked just fine, maybe a bit cumbersome because it's phisically larger than the MB OEM tool. I would really appreciate it if you make this post a sticky at the top so others won't go thru the whole ordeal we just went thru. Thanks for making the video.

alejandro silla im sure it missing more in details. I’m just trying to get people an idea since there was no other video on the subject t the time it was posted.

thanks for the video. In my experience if you are patiently hitting the tabs with pry bar and hammer (little bit one side little bit the other side-takes few minutes) you can get the ring loose with out damage. Just make a mark with sharpie where that ring was so when youre tightening you will do it how it was. one thing i was looking for here is the fuel gauge relearn instructions, so maybe any one can comment how thats done. thanks

Great video straight to the point, thanks so much for sharing, a question if you don’t mind, where is the fuel tank pressure sensor located? Is it the drivers side? Thanks again

The video is right but as soon as I put the pump in my gas gauge stopped working and I replaced the pump twice now do you have any advice I've had three different stories one was a fuse another was a fuel level sensor and the dealer told me to replace the transfer pump which I found out that was a lie

Thanks for the video. Just a small note to others. I have a 08 ML350. I had to beat the metal cover to death to get it off. I used a torch and that helped some. Razor knives, pocket knives, pry bars were no match for the glue MB used on this thing. What a crappy design. How about a couple of screws and a rubber gasket?

Scott Glauser lol thats what i said when i did my uncles ml350 fuel pump , i work at bmw and thank god they use screws and a foam gasket

Torch?? That sounds very dangerous!
@JoeSixpack7302 жыл бұрын
Same year, same issue. What tool did you use for the cap? The 25156 is TOO SMALL! Idiotic design too, with rounded corners and a square block hitting it, you lose like 1/2" of clearance if extended out all the way

Torch and fuel? Not so sure about that combo. Careful out there.

Please I need your help with some advice. I recently changed my fuel pump and filter on my mercedes w164 and I noticed the car usually jerks a little when I come to a complete stop at streetlights or traffic. So I scanned and discovered I had a "large leak in EVAP system" and "system too rich" error. I have checked my fuel cap but the error has persisted. I kind of feel the covers for the fuel pump and filter may not have been properly fit. So I plan to re-tight it again. My question here is this: Can a "large leak in EVAP system" error cause the "system too rich" error???

I can't find any tutorials that show how to access the fuel pump from the very beginning. All of them including yours show you already having removed everything and having accessed it.
@danielebrparish42715 жыл бұрын
You can look beneath the car to see where the tank is and get a good idea of where the pump is. On this car the center seats have to be removed and the carpet pulled back to expose the pump covers. There are two pumps and I think the one on the driver's side is the pressure pump and the passenger side is the return.
@waynehendricks81875 жыл бұрын
@@danielebrparish4271 Actually, I think there is only one fuel pump which is one the right side. The fuel sending unit is on the left side.
