This video was spot on. Have extra fasteners because, even if using an interior trim tool, the fasteners get brittle over time and can break during removal. I accessed the fascia fastening nut through the wheel well panel.

The video is very helpful. How ever you should nothing to do with how to remove the A/C lines disconnected from the A/C condenser you don’t warn anyone of the dangers of removing the lines if you don’t first evacuate the Freon. So it truly makes the video useless for removing the A/C condenser

I have a 2006 Dodge Charger sxt 3.5l and noticed a strange noise coming from the engine. I noticed my power steering pulley was chipped as if it were hitting something. After looking at it some more I noticed that my ac compressor clutch had a weird wobble as well and after turning the car off melted plastic was noticeable. Would this be the whole compressor failing?

I only have heat when rpms is higher than idle - some say thermostat some say oil cooler plugged above oil filter some say heater core . Has great heat going down the road blows warm / cool air at idle fluid full burped many times . I don't think the core as it works when moving . I think it may be water pump or thermostat . Opinions ? Thanks in advance

@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 8 жыл бұрын
+Robin Potts You need to make sure it is coolant not trans fluid for example. If you believe its coolant then pressure test the system to see where the coolant is actually coming from. You may need to remove the lower belly pans to see if you can locate the leak better.

Hey great video!! Question for ya: I have an '08 Charger, tried to recharge the a/c (using A/C PRO), and smoke (smells kind of like burning brakes) starts coming from the passenger side of the car, up near the washer fluid tank. I can hear a "hissing" noise, but can't pinpoint any leak. The a/c still doesn't work, as I stopped trying to fill it! The car has 140,000 on it, and I don't recall EVER having the transmission fluid replaced! Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated!!
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 8 жыл бұрын
finding that leak is important. That will be the first step. It depends on what you have to check with.....I have been known to put air in the system in worse scenerios and use soapy water in a spray bottle to isolate a leak. You can put dye in the system as well or use a "sniffer" to help isolate the leak. It sounds like it could be a bit obvious with you knowing the general location, smoke, and hissing sound. I would take some time and try my best to see if any cuts in the hoses or anything broke loose. There is no one place I can tell you to check. Thanks for watching and for the question

Hey great vid. I know you touched on it but I need a little bit more clarification. Now, I'm not sure if there's a leak or not in regards to my condenser but I looks pretty banged up from the front. I'm just wanting to replace it for that reason. But, I do know that my A/C doesn't work and the compressor doesn't kick in either. I've had the system charged at least twice and it only lasted about 2 days if that. Should I drain anything in my case?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 8 жыл бұрын
+bjohnsonutube I would make sure that the a/c system is completely empty none the less just incase. If you have a set of a/c gauges you can verify it and then if no pressure....remove the lines. You may also be able to press in on the shrader valves for a quick second to see if anything escapes. To be safe and 100% sure a set of gauges would be recommended. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe

@MotorCityMechanic

What is the issue? Are you saying that there is no cold air? The only reason to replace the a/c condenser would be if its leaking and no reason to replace the expansion valve/block unless the valve is sticking which is rare. Its hard to say with out checking all the modules for codes and performing a cool down test using a test on the higher priced scanner. Now when it comes to pressures.....its not accurate to check the system based on pressures only. It can tell you a few things for sure.....but is the system 100% at the correct level of freon....it wont tell you that, evacuated and recharging with the exact amount is the most accurate method obviously . Also making sure the radiator fan/fans is working correctly is important as well. I havent seen an ambient sensor go bad on that model yet but anything is possible. Typically if it did then a code would get set. I wish I had something to point you towards but there is nothing common coming to mind.....only the above mentioned items needing to be checked. Thanks Richard for the question and make sure to subscribe

It will need to be checked when the system is not working properly. That would include monitoring the pressure with a guage, checking for codes, and watching the operation of the fans. The fans will come on when the a/c pressures get to a certain point.

If so will I lose a lot of trans fluid from the lines after I disconnect them? Is there a certain procedure for the trans fluid after the install of a new condenser? Thanks for the help.
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 9 жыл бұрын
JRomero8686 Thanks for the question and for watching the video. Yes the procedure will be the same. The amount of trans fluid loss will be slight. Being that you have a NAG automatic transmission, you will not be able to check the trans fluid level unless you have the special tool needed. The reason whay there is no trans dipstick is that the fluid is checked based on the trans fluid temperature and you need a scanner to read the trans temp and then compare the marks on the special tool to a chart using the temp as well. Most dealers will check the fluid level free of charge if you ask nicely. You will not lose enought trans fluid to cause any shifting issues, but still have it checked to make sure its at the proper level. Do you have flush the system when replacing the condenser ?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 9 жыл бұрын
bryan9274 Thanks for the question Bryan. It really depends on the reason for the condensor replacement. If the condensor had a hole and was leaking or if your replacing it because you had the transmission rebuilt or replaced ( condensor also has a trans cooler built into it) then I would say no. The only time I flush an a/c system is when there was a failure with the compressor which means possible metal now in the system. Then the upper radiator mounts are removed and also make sure the fan assembly is removed. Then lean the radiator towards the engine and then up out of the engine compartment. You can remove it directly out the bottom as well but there are a few more steps. If I do have one come in the shop....I will try to film it. I work at a dealership so I will have it on the lift. Is it easier to take out from the bottom or top?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 9 жыл бұрын
Ray Callis going out the bottom is pretty sweet. If you have access to an a/c machine than I would think about possibly removing the Freon and then dropping the radiator and condenser down together as a unit. The lower radiator support unbolts. Most of the time I have the bumper cover off doing other repairs when I do it this way. Should still work with the bumper cover on.....but surely all the lower air dams would need to come off to gain access

MotorCity Mechanic Ok. Yea there's no freon just water. I'm replacing the radiater on monday. Thank you for your help.

Ray Callis What I meant about the Freon was that I remove the Freon from the a/c system, unbolt the a/c lines and then drop both the radiator and condenser together....still bolted to one another.

So it was not a replacement as posted..it was just the removal..

Roy Quesada I could have made the video twice as long.....but like I mentioned in the end, installation is just the opposite of removal. Same steps just in reverse. I felt there was no need to dragging the video out for so long to show the exact same steps. If you can remove it.....you can install it. Thanks for watching Roy

@@MotorCityMechanic Problem with that is there is no mention of adding pag oil to the condensor. I think that is crucial information
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 5 жыл бұрын
Roy Quesada my apologizes on that. On most vehicles it’s around 1oz. I have found over time that being that the oil collects in the drier.....replacement of the condenser without adding oil has no affect or causes no damage. I will keep that in mind for future videos and try to add info such as that. Thanks again for watching and for the comment

my 2008 dodge charger 2.7 stop blowing cold air lines get really cold and it blows air but it comes out hot any one know what to do or what is it ?

Two things need to be done.....first thing is to have the a/c pressures checked and the second is to check the vehicle for codes....mainly in the HVAC module. It will take a special scanner to access that module. Most code readers can't. There is a chance that there could be a HVAC doors or actuator.....accessing the HVAC module could show that

lmao, i was removing the radiator and i wasnt paying attention to what i was removing and i accidentally removed the very bottom portion of the AC condensor line? how hard is that to replace or refill, nothing was damage when i loosened up the line it shot out white smoke, assuming it is the AC Fluids?
@MotorCityMechanic

Once you get it all back together.....you need to take it to a automotive shop to have the a/c system evacuated and recharged.

@@RaptorVlog You now have to remove all the freon....pull a vacuum......and the recharge the proper amount. Machine is the best method.

+Casey Whitson What repair were you making as far as having to disconnect the top Freon line. What issues were you having before? I need to clarify so please excuse.....you did have the system recharged with Freon correct? I have to ask.

+MotorCity Mechanic my fan broke and cut my radiator. and I was told you have to take off the front bumper to get access to the radiators. so during all that. I disconnected the top freon line, trying to get enough space to get my radiator out and it blew off all the pressure. no, I have not taken it to get it recharged. I guess what I'm asking is, do I need to get it vacuumed and then recharged at a shop. or can I just go buy a bottle of A/C pro & recharge myself?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 8 жыл бұрын
+Casey Whitson that would be okay if you were topping off the freon but your system is empty. A vacuum needs to be pulled on the system in order to remove the air and then recharged. I had a video on the radiator replacement. Wish you had found it before so that you didn't remove the line. Thanks for the question and for watching the videos. Make sure to subscribe
