Im having same problem with a 2006 hybrid civic. I doubt its water damage but ill have to take it apart again. I just replaced the battery so im guessing inverter converter issues

The same problem happens to me in a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid I get the code U0110 communication failure with the motor driver but check the connectors and they are fine

Check the relays on the harness that plugs into that connector on the inverter/converter side If they check out, check your actual inverter and converter!! They usually fail mostly when the car has high mileage from use. Let me know how it goes!!
