Bought my 2008 Honda Civic used in late 2009 from a Honda dealership. This car in my opinion is one of the most reliable cars I’ve ever owned . I keep up on all the maintenance requirements. About 3 years ago I elected to have the water pump changed. Not because it was going bad, just as preventative maintenance. It now has about 230,000 miles on it and it’s still going strong. I use it for commuting to work and back, it put about 100 miles a day on it . I would consider buying another 8th generation civic in good condition. I believe mine is from Canada.

I placed my 2007 civic in the garage and left it there for a few years. Well I took it out and am driving it again and its having some issues. Looks like an oil leak, boot leaking grease and it shacks in a right turn. I have 192,900 miles on it but the car is a work horse for sure. I am going to get it fixed and keep driving it. I am the original owner and have had this 2007 civic since November 2006.

We also own a 2005 Honda civic ex special edition sedan built in Canada it's just better than the American built one I drive daily a 2005 Honda Civic ex Special Edition Coupe both have the 1.7l engine the Sedan is Automatic with around 250,000 the Coupe only had 115,000 miles on it But it was wrecked once as well so that sucks because the repairs were half assed. I also have another American built 2001 ex automatic it has 300,000 the head gaskets have been replaced on the two higher mileage units I do all my own repairs because I'm also a heavy truck Diesel tech.

Huge tip for you. DO NOT replace the OEM front lower control arm when the bushings go bad!. Replace ONLY the bushings with either new oem bushings or with energy suspension bushings. We replaced a set with Berk Arnley LCA control arms and the sway bar mount welds broke right off. Keep your OEM LCA arm's. Just replace the bushings.

Another common problem with this model is the fuel gauge located on the dashboard. Many times the gauge reverses is display. What I mean by this, instead of the gauge showing the remaining fuel by lights and the empty fuel by turning the lights off, this operation is reversed. I haven’t fixed this since it’s not a big deal to read the gauge backwards.

I loved mine!!! I picked up an 08 Civic EX-L Sedan. 1 owner (older lady) 53k original miles, no issues. I did a oil/oil filter change, brake pads, and fuel filter. I sold it at 164,990 miles. 3 sets of Michelin tires, flushed coolant system, and changed out the in cabin air filter.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic EX. Black sedan with a sunroof and spoiler. The thing is built like a tank. Bought it used. 170k-ish miles on it at this point. I drive it hard. It's got me through high school, college, and still going strong now that I have my first job. My parents hit a deer at freeway speeds a while back, and I T-Boned someone in a parking lot a month ago. But the thing still drives like it did when we bought it. This car is immortal. Also, I live in snowy Minnesota and the weather and accompanying road salt is absolutely brutal to cars. Here's some major work I've had to get done: - New AC compressor (it just quit one summer) - New rear shocks - New brake rotors, replaced at the same time as the shocks (not sure what happened, but I probably forgot a brake job at some point) - New front bumper after last month's accident I've never had an issue ordering parts for it. Most of the time the parts are within walking distance. All those other cars have supply chain issues, but for this car it's like the factory is in the next county over. Long live the 8th gen Civic!

These videos are always interresting. The passenger side engine mount on these can go bad without excessive movement from the engine. They just sag and two metal parts just sit one on top of the other. Check out for this. It is hard to notice at first glance but the noise from inside the car is quite obvious, especially on acceleration and deceleration. Keep up the good work!

Clear coat is DEFINITELY a problem. I have spots all over my 2006 with 125k miles. I'm looking to buy some touch up paint to fix it, but it's gonna take a lot. And my sun visors kinda suck too lol! My driver's side will snap when I put it down, and then I'm not able to put it back up. I didn't even realize that these were somewhat common issues. I guess I'm glad that I'm not the only one dealing with it lol

@@jobmeyer4442 it's not something touch-up paint will fix. The clear coat has oxidized and will eventually peel off if it hasn't already. There was a soft recall on this years ago which let me get my car repainted for free, but I doubt they honor it anymore.

Owned my ‘06 Si since brand new and the only problem I had out of this list is the control arm bushings and engine mounts. Other than that it’s been a great car. Currently has 162k on the odometer.

I started driving 90s Hondas and fell in love. I've had a 2007 2 door 5 spd for about a year now. I got it off the original owner and I have to say its a great car . Way more comfortable and quiet than the older ones but the electronic throttle system (drive by wire) Sucks. It doesn't respond like the old cable throttles do. It doesn't respond well to very quick mashing of the gas . Prefers a more gradual application of the pedals

Hey- I have the exact same car! I noticed the same issue with the throttle for the first couple years I opened it, but cleaning the throttle body completely alleviated the throttles strange behavior. I hope this helps!

Ive owned an 08 honda civic lx for 6 years now. The first thing that went out was the ac compressor. not a problem for me though but eventually pulley was seizing so had to reroute with a smaller belt. Second was the starter which i swapped out myself. Third is the motor mount which ive swapped out 2 times now. Overall this car is very reliable and im at 190k miles

We bought our 8th generation 2007 Honda Civic Coupe LX 1.8 liter brand new. We have followed the fluid maintenance changes to oil, ATF, coolant, and power steering fluid on time (all easy to do on this car and that's important, all Honda fluids except used Mobil1 high mileage, extended performance oil & Purolator One filter), Akebono brake pads. (timing chain - life of car, interference engine?). Our car now has 299,600 miles and is still like a new car. No problems. We have had to change a passenger side motor mount (amazingly easy, I did it myself) and a starter (kind of a pain, but did it myself), and had to fix the sun visor (the biggest problem with this car). At 263,000 miles we changed the spark plugs for the first time (easy) only because it seemed like we were supposed to even though it ran just fine. We have replaced all of the struts/shocks only once at about 200,000 miles once only because it seemed like everyone said we should (kind of a pain because we live in the rust belt). This car has, and continues to be the only car that I have ever owned that I completely trust always. It never fails to bail us out of problems created by our other vehicles. It is our rock. There is something to be said about buying a good vehicle new that is easy to maintain so you know it has actually been maintained (because YOU did the maintenance). I am shooting for 1,000,000 miles with this car if I live long enough (I know it has been done with this car before). It still handles and drives like new.

I bought a 2010 civic ,in 2018 for my son when he was in highschool he drove it for six years never service it . when he taught it was dead he bought himself a new car i took the car to give my other son in high school did some cosmetic work and change some parts now the car is looking better than when i first purchase it. The engine runs like new very quiet with an 140k miles . These are very good cars.

I bought a 2006 ex 2dr. Coupe three years ago.. It had 125k miles when i bought it.. I am Almost up to 200000 miles and all I have had to do is regular maintenance they're maintenance and I do have the airbag light on and a little bit of problem with the window motor but I did get about 2 or 3" of rainwater in my car one night at work because I accidentally left my son roof open so that Was kind of expected... I am happy with my purchase though it has been an amazing car with great gas mileage and I and I do not regret buying it at all and I definitely will buy another one when this 1 gets a few years older

Have had 8th gen 3 Si's, haven't had ANY of these problems. My mom bought her 2007 NHBP Civic Si from the dealership brand new in '07, put 270k miles on it, and has never had any of these problems other than the LCA's. Only things we've both done are the CMC/CSC, accessory belt tensioner, timing chain tensioner (preventative), and a few clutches/fuel pumps/ regular maintenance that would be done on any car.

2006 Civic still going strong with no real problems. The a/c compressor clutch gets a little sticky once in a blue moon and takes its sweet time kicking in. Other than that no problems at all, amazing for a car going on 15 years. I still see more 8th gens than 9th gens on the road.

I have manufactured defected Car bag, Window stuck & possible car arm & AC defect? This video mentioned? Maybe more? I was fortunate to be given my mother’s 2006 Honda Civic sedan. First time with auto windows for me!😂 She banged it up a about 150Kmiles-had to so far replace the starter & ?. That was expensive? $1000k, roughly? Then recently I made the mistake of going to a Honda dealership, nightmare of expensive service without telling you first! Only front brakes work & AC Hell they had to replace the whole system close to 3K? Local mechanic did same work for about $1800 on friend’s old Subaru? Never going there again even if price was a similar elsewhere! So nothing is free it’s cost me for a year close to $4000k + on credit card! Now to replace Muffler & potential alignment wheels in front? Another $1000K+. Nothing is free $5000k+ which is a starting point to purchase? So I am so very grateful that I didn’t have to purchase and most likely have to pay for repairs not long after! Rust is a killer in New England & Pot holes! Also whatever damage from bang up not corrected? At what point does one consider buying (credit borrowing w/interest) something closer to new to save some money without too much worry? Like someone said “old economy car lasted 20 plus years only cost me about $300K!”😮 It’s a huge exaggeration but it feels that way sometimes.

I purchased my 2007 Civic EX brand new. I have mostly highway miles on it. I wish I took better care of it but it’s still a great car. I have been doing oil changes between 7,000-10,000 miles. I have been doing the oil changes myself. I just had my mechanic take care of the oil leaks: valve cover gasket and VTEC solenoid gasket. He also changed the serpentine belt and tensioner. He said my engine mount on the top passenger side needs replacing so that’s next. I need to change the A/C blower because sometimes I have to tick below the glovebox to get it going. It’s less than a $60 part and I will do it myself. The outside of my civic looks it’s age for sure but for the most part it’s a beast. I am currently driving 110 miles a day commute back and forth to work. I have about 194,000 miles on it. I will try and put 300,000 miles on it if I can (I hope).

I have an 8th gen ‘08 coupe, got it in 2013 with around 60k on it. Today it is almost at 250k and still going strong. Had to replace the Alternator and the Starter and the top motor mount, but for the most part it has been wonderful to me. Great reliable daily driver 😎

My only problem are the bearings on the front wheels. 85db growling at highway speed, but no local shops will replace them. This Civic has been super easy to work on so far, I’m just tired of having to do it all myself 😅

Have two of these both coupes an 07 (220k) and 09 (150k) Motor mounts and 3rd brake light failed on both plus radios act up bit still work otherwise just routine maintenance. Really great vehicles that I would buy again.

@@sarahmatheny7140 I did my clutch and its not bad, if u want to actually do it..I did it by myself by COMMITTING fully, (no I'm not certificied mechanic) learn as go.. best thing helped is get a big piece of square cardboard , and every time u take a bolt /screw out push it thru the thin cardboard use a marker to write what that section of bolts screws nuts etc are for ...and that way u don't loose anything and also know what goes where when putting back together ..I promise you it's not hard anyone with basic 100$ socket set or whatever can replace clutch 👌🏽slave cylinder, throw out bearing, etc..I literally had only youtube vids to help me I did all work myself even dropping tranny down/out and lifting it back up/bolting back on ....breaker bar will help with many bolts like axel nut I believe it's called in center wheel hub..and so on....all I used was floor jack and stock wind up jack for other side of car , just enough room for me to lay up under and be able move somewhat / get to the bolts I needed to un tighten or tighten ..hope helps if need help jus ask ...reply..ill simply it much as possible

I can testify about the motor mount. I've had both of the mounts replaced twice. And don't try and use anything other then OEM. I've also had to change the blower motor four times as well. Even Honda told me they had a service bulletin about it and a change in the connection to try and fix the issue.

I too had to get my motor mount fixed and I was told that buying aftermarket parts are always going to be cheaper however you may have the problem again sooner than later, it’s just easier to buy the actual piece from Honda

Check your A/C compressor clutch relay first - very common Honda failure. Same thing happened to mine and the relay was the culprit

Man, you are awesome, a superb presentation. My FD3 (2008 Hybrid) got these problems too. 1. Car is hesitating when accelerating (new transmission oil) 2. Noice comes from the master pump after switch on and applying the break.

Also problems with the serpentine belt tensioner. The rattling noise is often confused with motor mounts. VTEC solenoid gaskets often leak in these models too. Otherwise great reliable cars.

@@willxl2137 It's a good idea to do it before it causes another part to fail. (Either directly or because you miss the noise that might have warned you if it hadn't been drowned in the racket.) Before you take it apart be sure to map the path of the belt around the pulleys, and make sure you have identified the source of the noise correctly. A long screwdriver makes a good stethoscope, and you can attach the top of a wiper fluid jug (or similar plastic jug) to make the noise louder without direct contact between your face and a screwdriver touching the running motor.

I've got an FA5 with 205k miles, bought it with 70k. Most major problem has to do with the transmission, the k20z3 is an absolute tank, and aside from burning oil it's been flawless. At around 150k miles or so, my 3rd gear synchronizer snapped off and got lodged in the shift fork. I somehow made it 30 miles in 4th gear along I-95 with tolls, without hitting traffic causing me to have to slow down, until I came to a perfect off ramp that dumped out right near a shopping center. Anywho back then it cost $3,700 to re build. I didn't have the tools or skills back then, but had money so just got it fixed. After building up and tuning 2 Fk8 Type Rs I'm in the process of rebuilding my engine and trans from my 8th gen Si. I royally screwed up after work one day getting into my car distracted by a conversation on my phone. Go to start up the car and only half of my muscle memory is applied to the process. Push clutch>turn key>phone is in right hand and doesn't put the car in neutral>left foot quickly releases clutch with car still in gear with the parking brake. Get lurched forward violently. Just freeze like oh no. Go to drive home and the car doesn't like going into its selected gear until the RPMs drop enough. I ended up having to double clutch it as I found that was the easiest method as it takes long enough for rpms to drop enough for it to slide into the next gear. There really isn't any grinding, only sometimes in 1st gear coming from nuetral. Soon to break the trans loose from the engine after I pull the whole thing out the top. I really hope it has something to do with the clutch and not the actual gearbox as getting parts will probably take months. Especially new synchros. But I donnt see how one gear could effect the synchros of the rest.. When I drained the manual transmission fluid there was no where near 2qts that poured out.. A small amount slowly drained out and it was dark and dirty like old motor oil. When I upgraded the MTF in my K20C1 @25k miles, the oil that came out looked brand spanking new. I'd have put barely over 2x those miles on the k20z3 trans rebuild, theres no way the MTF should be missing or that dirty. Other 8th gen problems, Compressor clutch, starter, replaced both lower control arms, driver side door lock actuator (whatever locks and unlocks the door with the remote) So i can't completely lock the car. If I do, the remote won't unlock anything and my key doesn't work inside the door... no idea why or how to fix that. So if I want to completely lock the car I would need to pop the trunk and go through the back seat to get into it. More electrical issues with interior lighting and most of my door seals and windshield seals are shot. It's turning out to be one hell of a project but with the possibility of great reward. Let me put it this way, I had to spend well north of $10,000 to get 400hp/450ftlb out of the k20c1 in the Type R. With the hondata fuel system upgrade along with every single breathing mod bolt on, it had the power to weight to keep up with a GT-R (stock) which was exhilarating. The time I encountered one to play, I was only running 93 octane and hadn't made the switch to flex fuel with E45 yet. Adding ethanol with the fuel system was an entirely new world. You know the initial surge when the turbo spools up at the optimum point in the powerband? It felt like that the entire time you accelerated. I've got tons of dash cam footage of me giggling llke a little girl every time I floor it with that setup. Especially on tight narrow roads the rush is intensified. Main bottleneck is the FK8s embarrassingly weak Direct injection fuel pump. I would have much preferred it to be Port Injection where parts are much more plentiful and superior in the amount of fuel delivered. Honda did it right with the NSX by having it DI along with supplemental port injection. To do that legitimately with the 10th gen Type R (no piggyback bullcrap for injector control) You need a Motec ECU, or Syveks, some custom fabrication and you're looking at another $10,000. Take that $10,000-15,000 I dumped into my Type R, and I could easily get double the power, even go crazy for a 1,000hp build with the k20z3. I would just need to wire in Hondatas traction control module because without it, all that power would be pretty useless until 4th gear. The 8th Gen Si/ k20z3 is legendary and I'm glad I held on to it. Only thing that sucks is rebuilding it, but so far i'm doing well for just winging it. Just waiting on my friend to be free to help me lift the entire thing out of the engine bay. Fingers crossed my issue just lies within the clutch like a busted throw out bearing. Afternarket parts like the synchrotech carbon syncro and bearing kit are nowhere to be found with the manufacturer having no idea when more will be available. OEM honda parts for the transmission are ridiculously expensive. If I wanted a single replacement gear for example, That's $500+ right there. Kind of weary of dropping that kind of money on OEM transmission parts when I need to build up to handle a big spooly boi and all it's torque. This year "07 had many problems and even a recall for it's 3rd gear synchro, which I found out about too late after mine already failed.

For the key: if it doesn't turn you can take the lock out and remove some pins. I did it for the trunk. This will make it so it's easier to unlock with any random Honda key, but if someone is that motivated to steal anything in my car I assume they'll break a window before figuring that out.

Bought my ‘08 LX with 15 miles on it. It now has 386k plus. I’ve replaced the passenger side motor mount 3 times. No big deal to replace it. A few sockets and a floorjack did the job. The drivers side sun visor separates if I leave it down on a hot day. I have a leak somewhere on the upper rear passenger side of the motor. I had Honda repair it once some time ago. I think the same thing is leaking again plus the front crank seal. And I have a gear oil leak on my transmission. It’s ahelluva a car. Good job Honda.

I have a 2009 Civic Si and I had 2 problems. About 5 years ago the paint on the hood and roof started peeling. Luckily a helpful Honda person saw it and gave me an appointment to get it repainted for free. Secondly, I had to replace the clutch about 2yrs ago. All in all a great car. I'm thinking about getting a 2021 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring next year.

Bought my 2011 Civic EX in 2012 with 30K miles. Now she has 341K highway miles. All original except for the A/C compressor and still gets 35mpg driving almost 200 miles a day back and forth to work and home. I use 0W20 Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy oil and change it at every 6K miles along with a transmission fluid change along with it. Fluid is always bright red. Overkill? Indeed it is but its my work horse! Paint is still great and interior is like new still!

Replaced the right side motor mount on my 8th gen, it was pretty simple if you have the right tools. Also had to replace the AC compressor at a shop. And of course had the dreaded sun visor issues...replaced once with the recall and now it has broken again. Have also had the airbag indicator light on for the longest time, will have to check the plugs under the passenger seat!

Check the thermal switch. Honda doesn't sell it as a separate part, but the third time mine failed I discovered that replacing the stuck-open switch was all it needed (same issue on both old compressors and the first one I checked at the junkyard). $6, a bit of thermal paste and it's been fine for 3 years (3 times what a new compressor was lasting... might have helped that I replaced the thermostat and coolant - it wasn't overheating severely, but it was running too hot).

*BEFORE YOU CONTEMPLATE BUYING A CIVIC* I personally wouldn't worry about any of these problems as there all relatively simple fixes.. what you do want to worry about is *transmission failure* 😱 never in 30 years of motoring have I owned a Honda and having only heard great things I thought I'd dip my toes.. I've just purchased a 2006 civic off an old guy he had it 10+ years... 116,000 genuine miles and has developed this awful dry bearing noise. Upon researching I have found that this is an 'extremely' common problem with Hondas!! It's the input bearing on the gearbox, it means you need a re-conditioned one and while your there you wouldn't split the box from engine and not do the clutch. If your a competent DIY mechanic expert the bit's to cost you around £400 for clutch, bearings, seal kit and fluids and a good couple of days work at least or put it in a garage and pay £750 upwards. After all this there's no guarantee it will last as I've found out they are renowned for leaking oil out of the transmission. Can anyone inform me how Honda got there good name?? It seems no matter what you buy these days it's junk, buy anything new and the deprecation will depress you no end, buy it 2nd hand and the bills will cripple you, especially diesels with high mileage. You can bet before long either the DPF, turbo or duel mass will fail all of which will cost you far more than the cars worth.. let's see in time how EV'S stand the test of time, my guess is batteries will fail for one costing thousands 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

a few issues. 2008 coup 2nd owner since 40K. still looks like new inside and out. except for peeling clear coat. Car is very maintained and not abused. 1. Clear coat peels off. 2. both back wheel bearing replaces at 90,000 3. motor mount replaced at 60,000.(vibrations) Honda brand. other brands only last 3 months. Based on research. 4. motor mount replaced at 127,000 (vibrations) 5. Sun visors separate from heat. Dont use in summer time the sun is too hot. Yep dont use sun visors to block the sun they will break. ( wait for A/C to cool before using) 6. Secret recall for 2006-early 2009 only informed first owner. Block can crack under alternator and leak. Honda will replace if it is leaking and within 10 years of make. I had to buy a new motor at 129,000. $3000 for parts. 7. Third brake light on coup is LED and the wires break. Must buy new one for $80 or reattach wires. $150 labor. 8 Coil packs bad. replaced all 4. 9. Factory tint on door windows peels off. 10. Front head lights get dull at about 90,000. Need to buy new one or sand and clear coat. 11. From 60k to 80K replaced all 4 TPS for leaking $95 each. Thats it so far. After making the list and looking at it I think I got a bad one. I only have 300 miles on the new motor. Runs like new

Love my civic, but I had engine failure on the 2012 eco. Nothing else is wrong with it, so I will just get the engine replaced. I am convinced that MOST oil changing businesses didn't know much about this engine, so from now on, I will take it to the Honda dealer for that service.

Recently both front tires start wearing on the inside. The camber had gone negative and I installed camber adjustment kits on both sides and had the car aligned. All is well now , but after watching this video in particularly the part on control arms I do believe I may need to change those arms in the near future. As of now though I am not getting any clunks nor is the vehicle "wandering" when brakes are applied , one of many tell tale signs of a failing bushing on the arm. 2010 Civic , 100k miles

Make sure if you buy a 2003 - 2011 Honda Civic, you get the Takata airbag fixed by the Honda dealership for free. In fact, anyone buying a vehicle from model years 2001 - 2018 from any auto manufacturer should check to see if that vehicle is on the recall list for Takata airbags, and see if the issue has all ready been fixed for your particular vehicle. Takata was producing defective airbags that many auto manufacturers were installing in their vehicles. Lots and lots of vehicles have been affected. In the event of an accident, these airbags can shoot out metal fragments at high rates of speed that have killed people or seriously injured people all around the world. There have been recalls here in the US. Again, Honda will fix this extremely serious issue for free, and you may even qualify for a free car rental if they need to keep your vehicle for an extended period of time while they fix it. When buying a used vehicle, don't trust that the previous owner has had this issue taken care of. This is very serious.

Just the regular maintenance. For like last 3 years i was thinking: "maybe i should buy newer car" (my salary is probably 2-3 times more when i bought it) but then i realise that it still looks good, it's reliable to the point where you just ... drive and you don't care, you don't worry about anything.

I have a 08 Honda Civic I brought back in 2018, had 70,000 miles when I got it and now I have 122,000 miles and so far after all these years, the most expensive thing I had to do was replace the starter. Since 2018 the other minor stuff I had to do was change the battery, get new tires and of course keep up with all the oil changes. I thought about trading my Honda in for something more newer but when my mechanic told me for my year, 08 Honda, I should be way over 200,000 miles by now but since I’m not close to that and it’s still running, why trade when she’s been so reliable and be back to making car payments again? He mad a lot of sense and he’s right, I’m going to drive my Honda until she can’t go no more. She’s been good to me for the 8 years I’ve had her and I’m going to continue to keep her.

Never really heard of any of these issues on the 8th gen civic. My top 5 would be. 1. Sticking callipers. 2. Boot leak 3. Roof rust ( near the windscreen) 4. Broken handbreak plastics. 5. Bluetooth modual issues. Mechanically these cars are some of the most solid cars you can get, keep it topped up with oil and you should have zero issues at all.

I have the passenger airbag issue but that’s it. I’m at 343k and the only issue I’ve had is the serpentine belt breaking the tensioner bolt. Other than that I haven’t even had to replace the alternator or water pump. Oh and I had to replace the AC compressor about 100k miles ago. I’ve had it for 9 years and put 2/3 of the miles on it.

1) Clutch/Gear Actuator (Expensive & goes every 2 years) 2) Battery Drain (BT Hands Free) remove the kit 3) Suspension (feels crashy) change to KYB shocks & Eibach springs 4) Sensors (reverse switch, coolant temp sensor), A/C Sensor/Fan relay (or bad fan) , Wiper Motor/Sensor & ABS/VSA Sensor's. 5) Damp Boot (seals) 6) door hatch 7) Immobilizer/Alarm issue (internal battery dies) fix is to remove the siren. Risk of losing key code if car battery dies too. PS. These are all things that I and many-many others have experienced

Had the car since 40k and 105k later I've done three out of 4 motor mounts (main one replaced twice), AC compressor, starter, steering rack, all shocks and struts, front control arms, rear springs (they were sagging), replaced many interior 'leather' elements, resealed power steering pump, valve cover gasket, resealed a stupid cover on the back of the engine that was leaking like hell and a similar smaller cover on the side of the engine, ball joints, right CV axle, if I remember correctly both seals where axle enters the trans, a muffler that rusted and fell off, outer tie rods, rear hub assemblies and a thermostat.

One problem I did have with my 06 Civic was the fuel tank strap busted and the tank fell out. Everyone check theirs, I was lucky, I was just leaving my home when it let go. Only the people that live in the rust-belt need worry about this I would think.

If your wiper motor has just an intermittent problem, it often can be fixed by just replacing the motor electrical cover for around $10. There is a TSB for this issue when the contacts are corroded.

The 2006 LX Coupe with a 5-speed manual was my first brand new car. Unfortunately it was a complete lemon. I loved the way it looked, especially the dash, but it was probably the worst car I ever owned. The CD player stopped reading CDs 2 weeks after taking delivery, the A/C went right after the accessory warranty was up, I was constantly locked out of gears, the suspension would freeze in the winter if more than an inch of snow was on the ground and the thing drank gas like it was going out of style. I had a couple of times when something happened with the ECU and all of the dashboard lights came on. After I hit 100000 km on the odometer the engine sounded really rough. I had friends with the same car and they had none of these issues except being locked out of gears. Oddly enough I still miss it. It was how I learned to drive a manual car.
