One of my favorite cars was a 80's Honda, rust and all. We had to be careful not to drop anything on the floor because it might fall through one of the rust holes in the floor. I remember push starting it for 6 weeks because I didn't have the time or money to get a rebuilt starter motor. Eventually I drove it to the scrap yard to take her to the great crusher in the sky. The engine survived but the car crumbled around it.

So Jim, did the internal compressor failure release metal into the lines? Most Honda 2007-2011 compressor have this issue (compressor shaft to thin). What compressor did you use to replace because I am SURE you don't want to put the same unit back in with the "engineered failure" still in it.

Do I need to vacuum the refrigerant when replacing the compressor? Do I need to manually oil the new compressor?

Yes you will need to vacuum first . You will also need to vacuum the system before you refill it. If you use a complete AC charging station the oil will be added by that machine.

Why not replace the clutch and bearing??? There's a kit available for it
