"People never give it a chance because it looks different" -man I felt that. Here now in 2020, I still like this truck. That tailgate system several years ago blew my mind and though I never owned one.. I was so surprised by how well it drives. I hope they bring this design back for next generations, it really was its own identity.

I have the same year RTL ridgeline in black (168K miles). I have been contemplating getting something newer and recently went on some test drives. After driving new 2020 and 2021 trucks in the same category (and some full size) our consensus is that this older ridgeline is better. This will be one of those trucks that everyone looks back and wishes they still made the same way. Thanks for the great video!

I have an 07 has been pretty darn good after 188k miles - from family trips, to hauling bed fulls of compost. Just took a 300m trip today, and this engine still has the gust it did 50k miles, which is pretty awesome, with regular maintenance(fluids, belts, etc).

I love my 06 Ridgeline! It has approx 170K miles on it but it still runs like a champ. No major work these past years but just got done with a valve adjustment and replaced the motor mounts last week. Love this truck and will drive it until it the end! The interior is the only thing I need to address as the seats have rips and tears now. I will get some seat covers soon!

Great video, man. I just purchased a 2007 about 4 months ago with 118k miles and it's by far one of the best versatile vehicles that I've ever owned. I have a wife and two boys and the Ridgeline has plenty of room for the 4 of us. The size of the vehicle is just right and I must add that it's very reliable too. I too plan to keep mines for many years to come.

Great video. I feel like you were telling my story the entire time. Absolutely love the truck. I don’t need size to assert myself, or anything else for that matter. Priority for me has always been quality and reliability, and Honda nailed it for me with the Ridgeline. I own the RTL and our most recent trip was a 3000km trek across BC, Canada with 4 of us plus a 65lb dog, and all our bags. My truck has a canopy and for this trip we were loaded to the roof, and it never felt overloaded. I always had plenty of passing and hill-climbing power when I called for it. To anyone on the fence about these trucks, I highly recommend the Ridgeline, both new and old. An additional note: the 4x4 system is a true 4-wheel drive. Unlike other trucks of this size and generation, both the front hubs AND the rear diff lock to provide positive 4x4 traction. That feature makes for a superb handling truck especially in winter driving conditions. My other truck is a 3/4 ton GMC and it’s great for hauling & towing etc. But I always prefer to drive the Ridgeline in winter conditions. It’s just a far better handling vehicle.

One of my biggest issues with the new generation (besides its car-like styling) is that Honda did away with all that front seat area storage. I loved the three bins above the glovebox for little things, the giant exandable center console, and the large open space in front of that console which was big enough to fit a small cooler. Just so many thoughtful, useful design ideas going on in there.

I have a 2008 the exact same color as yours. Bought it new that year and still driving it. Presently has 231,000 mi. I looked at the new ones but I like this one so much better. The trunk on the new ones is the same width but 6 inches shorter. Doesn't sound like much but it's a lot less room. Also the new ones have a console down the middle which I'm not fond of. I like the column shifter much better as it gives me more leg room. Can't see myself getting rid of my 2008 anytime soon.

I have 2006 RTS , iam the second owner. Has 180k miles with lot less issue than your truck. Mine are as fiollows: 1. Transmission Overheating on Summer time. ✅ i did add extra Radiator to ATF Fluid ti have fluid ti cool down the transmission. 2. Leaking underneat coming from oil drain plug ✅ i bought a oversize drain plug at Amaxon & it Fixed it. 3. Broke the Engine Pull release Tab by Oil change guy ✅ biught one in Amazon with Red Color and is tougher than OEM. Thats it. I also added ❤️ Wireless Back up camera Amazon ❤️ i lowered the spring suspension ❤️ i changed the wheel & i put BMW X 5 OEM wheel ❤️ i put LED STRIP TAIL LIGHT ❤️ i replaced tail light w/ clear lens & perfect for my Silver color RTS. ❤️ i put LED BAR LIGHT IN FRONT under Bull bar bumper. ❤️ i changed all BULBS W/ LED ❤️ i just recently put a Camber bolt adjuster to the front coz its negative camber & wore out my tires fast. ❤️ also replaced the back camber bolt adjuster. ❤️ i add a 1 inch wheel spacer bolt in type ti front & later will put one set at the back. It help in cornering when you have a wider axle. My next project are ❌ replacing the stereo mine has more light at night. I found one on Amazon 7 ,8 or 9 inch touch screen w/ carplay ❌ putting a Blue LED WARNING LIGHT if trunk or tailgate is Open. Coz last i drop my Luggauges from Airport coz no Warning that the tailgate is closed completely. ❌ LED BACKLIGHT w/ switch On & Off for those driver behind me Blinding me w/ their Highbeam light. So far i love my RIZLINE “ thats my plate no. “ A/C still works since i got it last 2008. I will keep this truck & take good care of it so she will take of me back. 🙏🚗

I am looking to buy a 2006 Ridgeline this weekend for $4,500. It has 175k miles. And is in rather rough shape. I test drove it today and it rides beautifully and the engine sounds and pulls very well. I would say the truck is in fair shape at the very best. Excessive wear and tear on the exterior and interior but no rust. Does this sound like a good deal?

I tentatively got one with 165,000 miles for $5k. Just needs a tranny flush, new front struts, and a new timing belt. Never would have thought to look at one except my '06 Dakota I bought two weeks ago for the same price turned out to have a hidden broken frame. I realize now how lucky I am with how everything worked out. It looks like it will be a much better truck for the same price and last forever with how little I drive.

The legs on the back seat are supposed to fold in automatically when you flip the seat up. When they don’t, it’s because of a weak plastic pulley behind the seat that most likely broke in half. Very common. Honda has since released metal pulley replacements which are very affordable and will last forever. Changing them out is very simple, I’ve done it in my 2006 Ridgeline before.

I test drove a 2006 yesterday ...RL base model. Only 110,000 miles on it. The entire plastic bed had been replaced and looked brand new. One small dent on passenger side and it will need tires soon. I loved the way it drove...plenty of power, but I'm not crazy over the silver exterior color and that it is not the top RLS model. Let me know how your Honda is holding up! I do like that saphire-blue paint myself!

Not a Ridgeline fan. Mine is a 2007 with 100,500 miles on it. I thought it was a unique and edgy truck but have had nothing but problems. The trans cooler/radiator failed and mixed coolant and tranny fluid together causing almost $3700worth of damage. Killed the tranny, radiator, trans cooler, water pump? Not sure how. Numerous minor fixes like fuel filter, both back windows stopped working, trunk latch failed, key fob receiver died, drivers side door lock controls died, washer pump croaked, sway bar links worn out, weird issue where all dash lights came on while driving and lost some functions. (remote start system was the cause. Expensive to diagnose) Just not impressed by it or happy. It does well in the snow but noticed it likes to spear the front end off course in heavy snow (unique for a truck) Not a quick truck 0-60 around 10 seconds. Lack of power hurts on the freeway, where I spend a lot of time. The towing experience isn’t the best for heavy trailers 3000+ lbs. Tow haul/D3 is a little uncomfortable to used especially on the free way. To do 75 your running over 3500 rpms for hours and getting about 7-8 mpg. The short of it is I have an 07 Ridgeline with no rust, new tires, rebuilt transmission, about a 1/3 of the electronics are new, and up to date maintaining and fluids. $8K and it could be your wonderful daily driver. Recipes for replaced parts and service records for the 17 months I have owned it come with. Message me.

Thank you for the insightful video. Beautiful truck inspite its age. I currently drive a 02' Honda CR-V. It meets our current needs ie. hauling my family of 4 & do quite a few road trips and camping. I just wished I have a little more cargo space. Never owned a truck before, so I'm a bit concerned owning one as my daily drive. What's your gas mileage? I have a relative who owns the same truck as yours, same year and color as well. It's well maintained, garaged and hardly driven since he retired. He already asked me if I'm interested. Not sure if I'm ready for a truck, but I know I will get a good deal if I buy it from him. Thanks!

Go for it if its in good condition. Make sure the timing belt has been changed. I get 16-18 normally. I use mine for hauling my dirt bike. It will do closer to 20 on the highway if you keep it at 70, I have a habit of speeding it seems. AWESOME in the snow.

You said as long as you keep up with the timing belt and the water pump they last forever, does that also go for the same generation Honda Pilot? Since they are the same engine and whatnot

I just bought a 2010 with 63k miles for 7800. That's 6300 miles a year! Incredible. The thing looks brand new inside and out, and was half the cost of other Ridgelines that had twice that mileage, so I simply couldn't pass it up. I still think it's one of the ugliest UTES out there, but hey, it's a Honda. The thing will last forever. . The bed trunk and fold up back seats are cool......the gas mileage not so much.

Im i have a fetish for cubbies out 14 pilot had it all .. Now im confused buy 1st gen or 2nd gen..i see the 2nd gen has no wear near the cubbys like this gem does.. was your deciding factor in buying first gen?. I keep hearing ppl hate the look of the 1st gen were against it.. still bought it and regret not buying it sooner. I was something bullet proof that can take a beating interior wise .. we are s family of 3 with one dog and 2 cats.. how do you like the comfort for everyday usage. How about what your mrs says about driving. I would like something my ol lady can drive with no worries ( she hated driving the ram).

Id rock a 2nd gen all day long but you have to get the front end leveled IMO. Cant go wrong with either but the 2nd gen has the modern tech. Could always get a modern radio for a 1st gen.
