Quick tip. If your tranny feels notchy when it shifts for these, try and doing a tranny fluid drain and fill a couple times. DO NOT FLUSH IT WITH A MACHINE! If you try and do that it will break the transmission. It’ll kick up all the debris that settles at the bottom of the pan. That debris is fine if it sits at the bottom, the moment it gets into the tranny, it’ll tear everything up.

@stephenhair5501 Жыл бұрын
2008 RTL with over 252,000 miles on her. Minimal issues and very reliable. Changed the timing belt out every 100,000 miles, run synthetic oil, used good filters. None of the swithces, handles, knobs, window motors, etc have ever failed, which is more than I can say about other makes of vehicles that we have owned. I did have the AC Blower motor go out and the electric cooling fan behind the radiator got wobbly and noisy but those weren't all that bad to fix. And this Ridgeline climbs like a Billy Goat! Hard to get this truck stuck. Very satisfied for a 15 year old truck.

I got a 2023 two weeks ago. So far, it's been great. I don't need a giant truck, this mid-size is just right for me. Last weekend, I went out to a desert area and purposely attempted to get to places that I tried to with a crossover SUV and failed hard. I'm very happy with what it could do off-road. I'm not expecting to hang with the Jeep guys, going over 4-foot rocks and crazy stuff like that, I just want to get down a few rough roads to trail-heads that you can't get to in a RAV4. So far, very nice. I was able to climb a steep road where my RAV4 would spin out (the road was hard surface with about an inch of loose sand). Ridgeline did it flawlessly. I also took a run to the dump with some junk that had been pushed under my back porch and forgotten about. I got made fun of by some of the guys at work because my truck isn't giant and I didn't pay 80-grand for it. I don't care, the Ridgeline is what's right for me, everybody's gotta do their own thing.

@dirtbikeheaven11295 ай бұрын
@@VK-ds2dw Yes, I highly recommend this vehicle. Make sure the timing belt (and water pump) has been replaced at 100,000 miles. The transmission fluid should be replaced about every 30,000 to 40,000 miles. Only 3.3 qts of fluid drains out at a time. I replaced the fluid three times in two days just for safety. It’s an easy process. Also replace the rear differential fluid and transfer case fluid occasionally. I replaced my radiator at about 93,000 miles just for peace of mind. The transmission cooler is routed through the radiator and there is a washer in that system that CAN corrode and mix the transmission fluid with antifreeze. That obviously destroys the transmission.

I have an 09 that I bought new. We had just returned from living overseas and needed two cars. I had seen a Ridgeline in France early that summer. When my wife went to buy an Accord, I rode along and saw the same Ridgeline in the showroom that I had seen earlier in the summer and bought it. I’ve owned other cars while owning the Ridgeline but have never found a reason to get rid of it despite having received many trade in offers over the years. I’ve never had any major issues other than the paint has chipped away around the base of the rear door windows and there is some rust forming. At this point I don’t care. I live in the South, so any rust issue will likely develop slowly. I’ll drive the thing until the wheels fall off. There have been a few minor things: I had to replace the pulleys in the back that are part of the lift mechanism for the back seats. The originals were plastic. There was a replacement kit that included metal ones. The project took me a couple of hours, and I work slowly. The only other real annoyance is the calendar and clock stopped progressing last year as a result of a time base problem not worth explaining. The problem corrected itself this summer. I just need to disconnect the battery to cycle the system to bring the date current. I pick up loads of mulch and soil each spring, and I occasionally pull a good-sized trailer around with my small tractor. Never any issues with either of these activities.

Oh yeah, the first gen frame recall, you need to tell the owner to take it in for that. I have personally done them at the dealer I work at. The recall procedure replaces the tank straps with new hardware. Also, you install studs in the body and one riv-bolt that allows you to install a new right and left frame bracket that ties the subframe to body. The second gen are a different design, that is why the recall is not needed on those. Seeing as that truck lived in N.Y. for a time, he should really have it done.

I've got 245,000 miles on my 06 RTL, and it's still a great truck. The first generation Ridgelines, while classified as a unibody, have a full perimeter frame - it just happens to be solidly welded to the body. I don't have much use for a truck designed to tow 15,000 lbs, or put 3,000 in the bed, but I've regularly had 1200 in the bed and have towed 3500 with no issues other than reduced mileage. The AWD (Honda called it 4WD on the 1st generation trucks) works surprisingly well, and I've gone further offroad than people expect. It's not a rock crawler, but it's not going to tip over - it's the widest truck, with the lowest center of gravity in it's class.
