Mrv2u Good afternoon boss.. Hey Excellent videos that you have you should consider about be an instructor because you break it down just perfect keep the hard work up great job !!!! My Question is 2006 v6 Grand Cherokee how do you know if it has a limited slip differential ?? I actually told this Korean months ago and the owner never came back pick it up so you know I fell for the title just got the title recent leave the Jeep needed an engine which is the little V6 about another G put it to engine in it runs great now but I wanna service it real nice before I put it up for sale is so I would like to change the fluid here but I don't want to put the wrong fluid in it so if you could help me out with that it be much appreciated?? Thanks bro!!

Billy Ferguson thanks for the love brother. Love getting positive comments. If you jack up your rear tires with the Jeep in neutral and spin one tire and the other spins in opposite direction it’s a open differential. If it feels tight to spin you have a limited slip. Most we’d are open differential. Hope that helps any questions let me know brother.

MrV2u just curious also I have 07 jgc laredo 181K miles and if I wanted to have a mechanic do both diffs drains/filled as well as transfer case and transmission drain/fill what’s your estimate ballpark labor would cost me (liquids will be purchased from amazon) ty new sub to the channel btw 👍🏽
@MrV2u

Dealer will charge around 350+ just for tranny service including parts & labor. That’s why I call them stealerships. A normal shop would charge around 400-500 for all the work not including parts. I’m sure you can bang out the diff and t case on your own brother. The transmission has no dipstick and would require the dealer to do it to specs. They hook up a computer to fill it. Good ole Jeep. Let me know what you plan and how you make out brother.

MrV2u heck ya brother! 👌🏽 I will do this maintenance by myself for shure now I will challenge my self sounds like fun anyways 🛠 I’m not busy these days since Covid19 currently not going back to work yet and KZbin’s got tons of videos on how to anyways and lots of jgc owners out there and forums for infos “stealerships” 😂 u ain’t lyin brother those guys are ruthless lol I will follow your videos and also just realized that 4 yrs ago maybe 5 back in San Diego b4 I moved to Vegas I had the transmission fluid changed I’m guessing that’s too soon for me to change it again right? so it will just have to be the transfer case and both diffs I’m stoked! I will bang this out and I’ll keep u posted and if I have questions I will hit u up Tnx again for the response fam 🙏🏽

Hi. Nice to see Your video. Could you tell me or us, how often I should change oil in: front and rear differentials..? And a - transfer case..? Regular daily drive around 150-200 kilometers... 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK, 3.0 diesel. 180k km. Thank You.

The dealer recommends anywhere from every 20,000 to 60,000 miles. That depends on how and where you drive. But with the quality of gear oils now a days I would definitely recommend closer to the 60,000 interval. Glad you enjoyed the video brother. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Im not sure but im thinking my front differential low on fluid, i keep hearing a roaring noise when driving the faster i drives the louder it gets but it goes away when i comes to a stop.. i already had both wheel bearings replaced last yr i wouldnt think it would be bad within a yrs time what you think ?
@MrV2u
@MrV2u 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve had new hub bearings go bad fast. Also it could be the other hub bearings. But I’d check your front and rear driveshafts. Grab them close to the front and rear of each one and try to rock it up and down. It should have no play at all. If all good then pop the fill plug and check the fluid level in the transfer case as well as the differential. Let me know if that helps brother.

How much oil did both the diffs take using the pump method for the rear one, as not all the fluid could be pumped out that way? Also did you put in the Mopar limited slip additive to the oil, or that is not necessery if the oil has an additive in it?
@MrV2u
@MrV2u 7 жыл бұрын
I used 4 1/4 quarts of royal purple 75-140w. You get out pretty much all the fluid from the rear diff. It just saves time and headaches doing it that way. I don't have a limited slip differential so I don't have the need to add the mopar additive. I read somewhere that if you use the Royal Purple brand you don't have to use the additive as that brand has it all ready in it. Hope that helps.
