I agree. That is why I mentioned at 4:42 in my video that I will be saving the old belt in my trunk for a potential future road trip emergency.

Great video and really appreciate your attention to detail. That’s the Bando belt 7PK1550 which is $12 or so online FWIW

Awesome video! I have a request if you get around or have the need for it. Replacing the crank pulley and the water pump pulley, and replacing the radiator hoses

Thanks so much John!! You're the best. Making me save valuable money which I did not have to spare! Cheers. Also have an IS350 2006. I am only planning to change the belt, I hope that I don't need to change the tensioner or idler pulley? Thanks again

Good video! But why would you change it at 60k miles? Shouldn't it last longer?
@JohnsGarage10 ай бұрын
It very well may last longer than 60K miles, but belts also wear out due to old age as they are rubber. A 16-year old rubber belt may be unreliable and could break. I felt better replacing it at home proactively for a few dollars and just 10-minutes of labor, rather than dealing with a broken belt later on the side of the road.

Did it make a noise before you replaced it? Mine is making a loud scratching noise every time I start it.
@JohnsGarage Жыл бұрын
The belt on my car was not making any noise. I changed it as preventive maintenance. Without diagnosing your car, I can only make a guess. If the belt on a car is dried out, it can make noise. If the belt is loose, it can make a noise, but the automatic tensioner should hold the belt at the proper tension, unless the spring in the tensioner is going bad. The idler pulley bearing can also wear out and make noise. Same with the tensioner pulley. Since the belt is the least expensive part, and very easy to change, as you have seen in my video, I would suggest replacing the belt first to see if the noise goes away.
