Found this after I did it, but couldn't see fighting with the rivet and working out a replacement screw setup as don't have a rivet gun that size. Nice detail !!

Hey there. I have an 08 Town Car, and it looks like I need to replace my lock door actuator on it. The rear door on the driver's side. It's currently jammed and I can't get the door to open at all. Here's the thing I wanted to find out from you: it was actually briefly working for a day or so, a few weeks ago, after getting it back from a mechanic who was diagnosing something on the car for me. I haven't been able to talk to the mechanic since then......but I suspect that he might've briefly dissconnected the battery for a brief time. Do you think dissconecting(then reconnecting) the battery is the reason why that door was briefly working?

Sean, It is possible that the door locks cycled when he re-connected the battery but that should not be any different than you using the master door Lock/unlock buttons. I would suggest that you cycle the door Lock/Unlock switch to lock then unlock a few dozen times to get the door open, it might work one in 10 try's, then when open on the side of the door switch off the child lock until you get the actuator replaced so you can open from the inside at least. If I cycle lock/unlock the doors....does the ignition need to be turned on, and maybe that door's window pulled down?

I tried your lock cycling suggestion; but I still can’t get that back door to unlock. All I need is for that door lock rod to open up one time, so I can get the paneling off of it. Do you think if I disconnected(then reconnect) the fuse to the Driver Door Module......that might get the back door to open?

@@seanj.4634 neither should matter, just keep the keys in your pocket in case you lock the doors and shut them. DTG.

Turns out my actuator is still good, my rod is snapped. I'm trying to find just the rod.

Well that's great, cant you just weld it? Otherwise a trip to the junk yard is always fun,,,,,
