I now have a 2007 Mazda Miata MX-5. Your video will help me, big time! Thanks

Just bought a 2007 Grand Touring model. This video is great because I found out that the driver's side drain is plugged. Ironically I'm a professional trombonist as well and happen to have a trombone cleaner or 2 lying around. If I choose to not take everything out and try this from the top like you suggested I'm hoping that might work. Will try that first. Thanks again.

Follow up. Just successfully completed the process!!

@WilliamWhitaker-y1x yes definitely doable with the deconstruction, just helpful to know what you are aiming for with it clearly visible with everything out of the way. Just takes a bit more patience, good work!

I don't have the soft top model, but I remember reading that you should only feed the trombone brush from top to bottom (as you do in the video) else you will damage the one-way flap. For example, on feeding the brush from the top, and then seeing the brush come out the bottom, don't pull it back to the top. Only one direction: from the top pushing down.

Wow. What u don’t know can hurt you. Thanks so much for this vid. I just got an 06 grand touring. Getting the timing belt and tensioner replaced but this is the next task on the list
@jagboy69 Жыл бұрын
You do know these cars DON'T HAVE TIMING BELTS right????? That belt is just the drive belt that runs the accessories like alternator, power steering pump and AC compressor.

you don't need to take the entire car apart. I have a 2006 Miata and all I do is put the trombone cleaner in the hole under the car, push it up until it loosens the clog, then pull it out. do it once or twice a year. If I don't do this every year my car floods with a hard rain.

It would be nice to have a video how to disassemble trim behing the seats/under the roof for easy access of drains. I wonder it this is possible or you have to take out eerything seats, rear wall trim, roll hoops trim etc...
@nickerbocker13822 ай бұрын
@mnap89 This can be done without removing everything, I just thought for demonstration to show it wide open so you know what you're aiming for.
@mnap892 ай бұрын
@@nickerbocker1382 Yes I understand. I could not figure out how ti disassemble it from the top behind the seats. In the end I just removed and whole drain tubes from behind the seat belt tensioners. It was quite easy and quick.

Thought you mentioned in the video you were going to post a video of the assembly

pretty sure you can disassemble the drain hose. if i remember correctly, just take the seatbelt off and right behind it sits the tubes. much cleaner and you reduce the risk of getting the noise lips stuck open

I can't understand how Mazda can make a car that when is raining or washing the water has to enter inside the room before going out , creating all the problems that we know,and having many times the car flooded.

I'm guessing I don't have this issue on my wife's 2007 PRHT ????? ;-P
@nickerbocker13822 жыл бұрын
That car has a different style, but there are still drain holes. To get to those though you have to cut a little plastic screen that sits over them. They are a secondary setup as the hard top tries to seal the car completely, but if that seal wears out mazda put a similar system that mine and other soft tops have as a secondary water backup and they can also clog over time!
@jagboy692 жыл бұрын
@@nickerbocker1382 Thanks for the heads up. The car only sees water at bath time, but I'll check them out.

@@nickerbocker1382 That's how I understand it too. I was also thinking the drain system is for when you get caught in the rain with the top down.
