2006 Subaru WRX Parking Brake Installation (Emergency Brake) - Tutorial How-To

I made my first how-to video of my parking brake install on my Hawkeye WRX. I hope this helps anyone trying to install new parking / emergency brakes on their WRX/STI.

I’ve saved myself tens of thousands of dollars in labor costs by DIYing so much stuff on my 02 wrx, but after 360k miles one of my rear bearings finally gave out. I suddenly realized that while I can swap a clutch in my sleep I had never had a reason to pull the parking brake apart and never owned a vehicle with drum brakes so I was a little confused when trying to put it back together until I found your video. This is the best video detailing this specific service on KZbin hands down. Two plays and I finally get how everything works together

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. 😀 It was my first time doing them. I actually did the passenger side first so I had an idea of how it all went together. Then I filmed the how to part on the driver's side.

there's a special tool for those spring hold down things, looks like a screwdriver with a big flared end. appreciate the vid, very concise and good thx

I found this very interesting. I’ve never thought about the mechanics of an ebrake. Kinda looks like a little bit of a pain, but not horrible.
