In hindsight the yaris is a good car, but after viewing this test I can see the potential flaw in the yaris design. The front has no structural barrier that is sturdy like the camry upon impact towards the wheel well. Keep in mind that there is no metal support on 50% of the yaris front. While the camry with its wide profile, has roughly 25% plastic. Though I'm no expert. It's just an opinion.

Jake Methner a head-on collision is a different story. what i said more of applies to the general crash test into a barrier - a corolla does pretty well now. to be seriously injured is an overstatement. let’s say in the event a head-on collision, will the land cruiser fare better? definitely. but will the driver in the corolla make it out of the crash decently? with such high safety standards now, i’d bet it.

Did u happen to notice in the 2007 Toyota Camry crashes, not one airbag went off, the emergency seat belt locks did not kick in, and the gas pedal stuck to the floor? That's why i went thru the windshield twice, my car hit the first tree, then catipulted me across the field end over end into another tree then flipped my car into a roll into a another tree my car broke off and lodged the car with the trunk. My head went THRU the dash where cd player and controls were and THRU the consel. When they found me, i was hanging upside down by the shoulder belt with my head on the floor in the back and the rest of my flopped over the broken passenger seat. I received a double temporal severe traumatic brain injury, with a concussion, and 2 deep cuts in the top of my head. My car turned 11 years old 2 months after i bought it. It looked like a brand new car. Because it was 11 years old, the Government passed some kind of a law, once your car is 11 years old, you cannot sue the manufacturers.

Wow, the Yaris experienced total structural collapse as a result of crashing into the Camry. The steering wheel, dashboard, and airbag are driven upwards towards the dummy's head. Post crash, the dummy is in a slumped postion. Look at the roofline and floorboard of the Yaris. The seatbelts and airbags are useless in a car that's safety cage crushes like a tin can. The Yaris earned it's "Poor" rating.
