The only thing in my case is the previous owner did not take very good care of it at all, so I had to replace a lot of things Uber time such as the engine transmission et cetera. However, the car is very comfy. Its spacious enough and it really. Even though it was neglected so horribly, it's still ran and ran and ran. My brother bought a new 2007 Yaris sedan. He drove it until 2021. It had 500,398 miles on it when he traded it in on a new Corolla Hatchback. It had the original engine and automatic transmission. He had to replace the fuel pump once and the alternator once. He drained and filled the transmission fluid every 100k. Brakes were done a few times, and the fan belts were as well. It was burning about 1 quart of oil every 3k miles. It was an excellent vehicle. The dealer gave him $200 trade in, polished it up, and had it in their showroom as a half million mile Toyota in Lemon Grove, California....

When I got my 2020 Corolla LE, I gave it to my mom and she loves it. The only maintenance until recently were oil change, coolant drain n' fills & transmission fluid changes. Doesn't burn a drop of oil and the transmission shifts smooth. Replaced the water pump a couple of years ago because it was squeaking. Last year I redid the brakes front to back with all OE Toyota parts, even replaced the wheel cylinders with original made in Japan Aisin units. I had a 2007 4 door sedan Yaris. Best car I ever owned. Drove it to 182k miles and wrecked it. Nothing ever went wrong with it ! Nothing. Original brakes until 135k miles and nothing ever broke on it. I am still ticked off that I totalled it.

I've replaced the clutch,brakes, alternator bearings, fuel guage sender, regassed the aircon,and lowered it with coilovers, absolutely no rust. Best car I've ever owned.

Toyotas are absolutely awesome! Most people don’t know what they’re missing by not owning one. They have absolutely no idea. I’ve owned several domestic and foreign cars and even grew up in Detroit but Toyota is in a class of its own.
@rightlanehog315110 ай бұрын
Yes, I have the scars from my years trying to keep Detroit engineered cars on the road. Nearly 19 years ago I saw the light and switched to a Pontiac made by Toyota. I will never go back to a Domestic made by the domestics. 😉

Could not agree more with you Amd. We currently have about 15 Toyota Yaris cars, not the Mazda made ones, in our small rental company, and considering all the abuse and hard driving that these cars endure daily, it is a miracle that they do not fall apart. These genuine made Toyotas are truly bullet proof.

Hey from Australia. Just loved this video. We bought a 2017 Yaris SX 1.5 litre auto brand new. We just love it. It's a Japan made Yaris. We get it serviced twice a year because it doesn't do 10,000 every six months. Usually under cover and it has no rust at all. It really is a shopping trolley but we use it for everything and it's sooooo economical to own. I'm always singing it's praises but I do have one regret .... I only bought one. I should have bought two and kept one because they don't make these anymore.

I bought a used 2011 Yaris with a salvage title and 58,000 miles on it. I think it had been rear-ended. 5 speed Manual transmission. Hatchback. Love that car. Runs like Swiss watch. Plenty of head room. I'm 6' 3" and there is still 3 inches above my head. 128,000 miles now. Good as the day I bought it. I feel good every time I get into it. Fold down the rear seats and you can easily put a large road bike in the back if you separate the front wheel. I use my yaris like a small pickup truck. Best car I've ever owned for the money. 32 mpg in city. 39 on highway.

I brought a used 2007 Toyota Yaris with 158,000 miles. $4400 out the door from a shady used car lot. the charcoal canister on mine went out so the CEL would be on and off all the time. Drove the car almost 50,000 miles within two years before selling it. That car helped me save a lot of money. All I did was change the oil and filter. The car was peppy and somewhat fun to drive. The seats were terrible on the car and the weird layout of the speedometer and cup holder was a bit weird.
@tardeliesmagic10 ай бұрын
The seats on my 2002 were terrible too, i liked the dashboard layout, here in the UK i had a 1.3L 4sp auto 49mpg best! The ride wasn't the best,it was more of a city car, i got a 2015 Yaris now & it's much better, ride,comfort fuel.

I purchased mine in 2009, brand new. Used it way less than most of the people commenting here: only 150,000 km (93,168 miles) over 7 years. Replaced it still "young" because I lived in a "very salty zone" (Montreal - Canada). Took a 2016 Corolla instead, but I have to confess: many times I missed the Yaris. I almost bursted in tears years later when I recognized it at the Ikea's parking lot! That car is fantastic for commuting; it's a no mistake if you want it for that application.

@@rightlanehog3151 Bonjour, from Ontario too (now I live in GTA)! Yes, I started with rust proof treatment at Metropolitan (the equivalent of Krown in QC) and I have to continue the treatment here (I missed last year, but will not nap in 2024). Long live to our Corollas (and long good remembrance of my old and loved Yaris). Cheers!

Great video ! I took a 2009 Yaris sedan to Iqaluit, Nunavut in Canada’s high arctic and ran it for three years. Battery blanket, block heater and remote start. At -35 Celsius temps it never failed. Not once. Cranked out heat like crazy. Excellent fuel mileage. Electric steering so no belt and pump. 0W20 motor oil. Sold it by word of mouth. Every fibre of my soul still lives in that car. I miss it all these years later.

The Yaris has a special place in my heart. My dad bought it new, and he taught my sisters and I in that car in a target parking lot. We all learned in that car after killing that clutch haha. we gave the car away and the only real issue was rust. I had to replace the rear axle beam on it. It wasn't too hateful

Yaris owners, be careful tightening the drive belt. The oil control valve is in a place where you'd want to use a pry bar to tighten the belt. I broke mine and it took me a minute to figure out. Thanks for the video! I'm on the Car Care Nut recommended maintenance plan and hope to get over 300,00 (Currently at 165).

But the VVVTTTTiiiiiiiiiiii control valve solenoid looks strong and to be made from solid metal, looks just like a solid piece of steel put there on purpose to pry on. Turns out its just a thin stamped sheet metal cover, good advice. Suspect many have been munted doing exactly that.

Btw the Recall List on the 08 is stupid! It shows a lot but it’s really only 3 on REPEAT! IDK why but one is Toyota forgot to put the sticker on side door jam telling us it’s load limits and tow limit! And another for Takata airbag which most cars had recalled for! And another for a possible rear brake lamp connector corrode causing brake lights to not work.

I am still driving my 1994 Tercel , Original everything except of course parts that wear & tear. I do all my own mechanic work, & The only thing I have had to do that might be considered a medium repair was the front bearing hubs. They are open bearing hubs & anyone who know about cars know open hub bearings are the worst because all the elements get in them. That being said I only had to replace them once. Both front & back hubs & bearings. I bought that sucker brand new in 1994 & it's still going with no rust either. Tercel is Best car ever made. Second place goes to my 2002 Toyota sequioa, over five hundred thousand miles & still going strong. I gave it to my youngest Son who is in Military & he drives the crap out of it & I have only done regular maintenance to it & replaced the water pump & the main seal on the engine transmission transfer case. Other than that it's a TANK. Sounds like the little Yaris was almost up to par with the Tercel, except in my experience the Tercels didn't rust badly. Anyway, great video! Keep up the great work.

I have a 2010 1.5 liter Manual Yaris Hatch, my Father in law has a 2010 Automatic Vios (Yaris )Sedan and my friend has a 1.3 Automatic Yaris (Vios )Sedan- we all had alternator problems at around 5 years of age. My car has 173,000 km / 107,000 miles about to get a second clutch.. I’ve upgraded the battery from the NS60 to the 1SM. I once had the fan belt dislodge from its place while I was driving the car very hard on zig zags. Rust is starting to be an issue. Im still getting around 10 km per liter city driving. Recently solved a low idle / stall issue bu cleaning the throttle valve. Car Care Nut’s video about cleaning the throttle valve was extremely helpful. Thanks
