Excellent video of this job. Great job video it must of been a pain to do. I'm doing this job with the engine out of my 2007 Acura TL type S. Great filming it in the MDX. Love your humor

Thanks! Yes, having the engine out would be great! Sadly, I have no facilities for that.

Thank you for the video! I have a right mess in that area and I believe it to be the oil pump seal. I will be tackling this weekend hopefully. A real shame as i just replaced the TB/WP last year and everything was dry, ha.
@AcuraAddicted8 күн бұрын
No problem! Before you do this, I suggest cleaning up and checking after where the oil is coming from. It might be just your oil filter assembly (the seal with a filter behind it). Also don't forget to change your crank seal if you are re-sealing your existing oil pump.
@bigwavedave25507 күн бұрын
@AcuraAddicted Definitely will do. There is oil higher up from the filter assembly so it's probably the oil pressure gasket. I have a full set of gaskets for the oil pump, crank, filter assembly, and all the pressure switches in the area. Going to hit them all since I will be in there and don't want to be back anytime soon. Cheap insurance 😁

Not a Fram oil filter! Bogdan, I thought you were better than that😅. Nice content
@AcuraAddicted22 күн бұрын
Thanks! Not just any FRAM oil filter. The FRAM synthetic oil filter. I am aware of how poorly their mainstream filters tested compared to others. This one is not one of them.

I had to do it at 235,000 miles, and yes very very labor intensive

Thank you for the video. If I'm planning to follow these steps when replacing the timing belt, do i just start following the video after the timing belt has been removed? Or would there be other steps that would need to be taken in advance?
@AcuraAddicted18 күн бұрын
No problem! Yes, this starts immediately after the TB is removed and new water pump is installed. I have added a voice over in the very beginning of this video.

Now that was intense Bogdan! Great video and content! What’s your thoughts about the RDX 2019 and newer? Hope you respond.
@AcuraAddictedАй бұрын
Thanks! I’ve had a 2022 RDX for about 3 years and I currently drive a 2024. Great vehicle overall, not without flaws, of course. I have two videos on it on my channel, covering positives and negatives.

Thank you for great contents. All of your video helps a a lot. I have some questions. 1. Why did apply Honda bond on engine side instead of pan side and very lightly ? (I wonder if that's enough amount). 2. Do you think tire should be removed to access some pan bolts above frame(or near the fully) in case I want only oil pan re-seal ? Thank you
@AcuraAddicted29 күн бұрын
Thank you! 1) Good question! I was doing this in a very awkward position under the car on stands, and I found it easier to apply Hondabond on the block surface. In the end it doesn't really matter where you apply it as long as it's correct. It's been 4 years with no leaks for me since this was done, so all is well. The service manual says apply a thin layer, so that's what I did. 2) I don't think you need to remove the passenger tire if you are just re-sealing the oil pan, but it's certainly easier, since those bolts that go into the oil pump are easier to access from the passenger wheel well.
@kyoungilkim20 күн бұрын
From your previous timing belt video, I think you already removed timing belt and passenger side engine mount. When you remove oil pan and pump, did you re-install engine mount ? or did you do other way to support engine while removing oil pan ? Thank you
@AcuraAddicted20 күн бұрын
That is correct, TB and side engine mount were fully removed in order to be able to remove the oil pan and pump. Since I was going to remove the oil pan, I couldn't put anything under it in order to support the engine while the side mount was removed. It turns out it's not needed. The engine was not supported in any additional way to complete all of this.

How many miles on the engine when you replaced the oil pump? Was the pump giving you a frequent low pressure alarm?
@AcuraAddictedАй бұрын
195K miles at the time of replacement. Zero low pressure alarms before and since.
@bigwavedave25508 күн бұрын
I was getting the low oil pressure alarm in my TL with the same 3.7L engine (at only 68k miles). There is an Acura TSB to replace the oil pressure switch with one that reads the proper spec. Should be part# 37240-R72-A01. Replace switch and o-ring gasket. I haven't had any warnings since and VTEC functioning properly for over a year now.

How long should this job take? In hours? Together with the timing belt? This way, when I’m a week in, I’ll know I’m taking too long 😂 Thanks!
@AcuraAddictedАй бұрын
Haha, I hear you! Hard for me to say, because filming takes 2-3 times longer. But I suppose you could do it in a weekend, if you take this slow and methodically starting with the TB. Good luck!
