I also have a A8 4.2 FSI. My symptoms are EML and car running too Lean. I took out the MAF sensor. The car did not shut down but my ESP light came on. Any thoughts? What was the symptoms on your car

I get the same thing however mine is converted to liquid petroleum gas and only does this when running on petrol. I notice that when cold if i try and pull away quickly it hesitates and drops power then the power comes in suddenly in a rush. When it flicks over to LPG it’s fine.My engine is the 4.2 BFM. I suspect this also could be the MAF sensor.

Hi Greg. Did replacing it clear the error codes or did you have to use VCDS to fix. Cheers Grant.

Hey Grant I had cleared the error before the video. I’m waiting to see if it returns.

Hey! I love your videos. have you had any ABS and EPB malfunction lights on issue, with power steering now working, parking camera is not working on and off ? I understand that it is known d3 problems. VCD says it's LH speed sensor but i am not sure if i changed it solve the problem.

Thank you Chungdam. As a matter of fact I have seen the ABS light, EPB malfunction lights before. I have had them come on when doing other maintenance on the car. By any chance do you have the RossTech software VCDS? This is what I've used in the past to diagnose and resolve those issues.

@@CarNGuitarDude Yes. I went to the Dealership told me to change the speed sensor but did not tell me why it is connected with parking camera, power steering, and folding mirrors.

@Chungdam, I can't see why all of those issues would be related. Have you had any water damage build up inside the cabin from either the sunroof drains or the front cowl drain being clogged? Perhaps a common plug/fuse was disconnected/blown? Changed the battery recently? Did the faults all show up at the same time? I'll keep an eye out online if I see any ideas. Changing out the speed sensor may address that fault. i know the dealer will only be so helpful.

After I changed mine on my 2005 A8 it’s barely running now as if it’s running low on gas or something. It was running fine before I changed it but it wouldn’t pass emissions

I am wondering something else. Can I clean MAF sensor at home, I've seen some suggestions about that when it comes to check engine light, bad mileage, poor shifting and other problems which all occur on my Audi A8 D3 2003 4.2 petrol. So is it safe to just unplug it while car is off, clean it and then plug it back in afterwards?
@CarNGuitarDude2 жыл бұрын
Cant hurt to try. Just use the right type of cleaner. Might save you a few bucks.

@@CarNGuitarDude I'll try for sure, but what I think malfunctions as well is the camshaft position sensor. Because I hit the gas pedal to 3k rpm and it just roars but no significant acceleration, even in S mode.

@@DrFunTV do you have a scan tool like Ross tech? It’s not cheap but I’ve gotten good use out of mine and paid for itself after doing some of my own repairs. Might save you some time.

@@CarNGuitarDude My brother has VCDS software and plug in cable, is that similar to Ross tech or something different?
@CarNGuitarDude2 жыл бұрын
@@DrFunTV that what I use. Ross tech is the company and VCDS is their scan tool and software. Run the scan with that and see what comes up.

You never showed how to detach the piece because I’m pulling but it doesn’t come detached

You skipped the one step that I am having trouble with.... Can't get the darn wiring harness unplugged. I'm sure there is an easy trick, just need to be shown how.

Sorry about that, it was one of those 2 handed deals. I remember getting a flathead screwdriver and perhaps a pair of plyers.
