I would rather have the option to run in 2wd and change it on the fly into 4x4. Rather than awd.

A full time all wheel drive is stupid. Run buy servos hope you have the thousands of pounds, when it breaks. These are not the proper systems that are on older 4x4s. You also said it was a bother to twiist your fingers on a plastic switch. 😂 Q! Where have all the macanical minded people gone. Shame.
