An easy lubricant when cutting or drilling steel is a mix of common soap (soluble oil) and hot water. Make a sloppy and slippery mix of it and keep dipping the drill, hole saw etc. in the mix. It works well. By the way, the Lenox hole saw Steven is using IS recommended for steel!!! Because he is drilling stainless steel it can be a bugger to cut because the hotter stainless steel gets, it gets harder! I have been in the game for fifty years so I should know. Keep up the good work Steven.

Thanks for the lesson! I did what you did on my 2012 Shadow Aero 750.... Worked Great... $20 bucks for the drill bit. Now its a Honda-Harley!
@justaddwater69463 жыл бұрын
did you noticed any problems with the bike after that. like over heating or else. thanks
@stevebrighttheblackguitar6533 жыл бұрын
@@justaddwater6946 I drilled out my bike about 4 months ago and have had no problems or change in performance. It is louder, which is what i wanted and a lot cheaper than a new exhaust system. Like i said in my original video and comment, $20. Bucks and works great. Love the mod, easy to do... 15 minutes!

Great video!! I've seen many videos of people doing this in their shop or in their garage with bike mod experience. I'm really looking to do this myself with my spirit and it's good to see your challenges. Makes me see what to look for.

Only thing missing from this PIPING HOT video are the flames! Seriously, great job Steven! I didn't see anyone else helping you out through your trial and success so you deserve all the credit. The bike sounded great both times. That said,enjoy riding and turning heads with your two-wheeled "truck"

Hey man, thanks for posting the video. Its nice to see the guts before I cuts. I just did the mod on my 2008 and for the price, I dig the sound. I got a good laugh out of some of the comments too. Some people... Anyway. bike sounds and runs great. Not "loud" but enough to give her some attitude.

Thanks for the advice, flashdoogie. I'll do that and make sure to NOT continue to drill well past the point where the hole was created. In retrospect I have no idea how I didn't notice I'd made it through!

Just to let you know for the future.....dont use wd40 for a lube.......proper cutting fluid or even spent motor oil would of saved you from buying a second bit. Great job and thanks for posting.

no way man! you're going to turn into one of that loud ass morons. It's easy to fuck up brilliant work of engineers that reached optimum sound with minimal power loss. There will be no way back then. Better make 4 holes threaded for screws to unplug them whenever is needed
@toddsunderlin757410 жыл бұрын
Hey, before you ruin your stock exhaust, remember you are changing the back pressure when you take the baffles out. I talked to a tech at a honda dealer and he said the bike more than likely would not run right without jetting it first. I have a '09 750 spirit and i'm waiting until I can do it right with the right pipes and jets.

@BubbaGa1 Thanks, mate. Yeah, this bad boy's carbureted. It's really hard to tell if the bike lost any acceleration power (torque? I don't know) but I still get up to 85 relatively easy and have pushed it almost to 100 since removing the resonators as well. You may be able to tell a difference in acceleration after the mod but I had just gotten back on this bike after borrowing a friend's Super Blackbird so EVERYTHING was sssllllooowww. lol. No problems or popping on this bike though. Do it!

Nonsense. There is usually another baffle deeper inside. It is not completely gutted into a straight pipe, there is still plenty of back pressure.
