The supercharger was in the convertible.

Supercharger was used in models up to 2006. Then switched to turbo in. 2007

Garbage vehicle. I own one and it has the worst mechanical issues that you will ever encounter. Sure I am posting this years ago but it can save some random soul out there. In the first 6 months, water pump went out, coolant housing cracked, kept burning oil like crazy (even Mini claims 1qt per 1,000mi will be burned but it was even worse), loose timing chain causing rattle. The clutch also went out prematurely. JUST STAY AWAY!!! Do some research and listen to use owners.

You act like that's the cars fault. That was just poorly maintained.

yeah, have a buddy with the supercharged one, guy runs it like a maniac and if he was in a track all day everyday (ofc he's putting stress on the engine) but after 150k km (90k miles?) it's still tearing! ps: maintenance is on spot, never changed a single part exept brakes, sparks, filters, etc etc.. bought it brand new from mini dealer.
