I think the best question came from Ms. Nina Garcia. And Miss Japan nailed it with her optimistic answer. Just from her answer, you can already tell she has a bright and bubbly personality. And not only did she answer the question but attested that it's what she wants to teach in the future. It's as if saying if she becomes Miss U, that's one of the things she's gonna teach to the next generation. She clearly nailed it and that's why she won. Out of all 5, she's the only one who answered with additional future tense. Clearly the winner.

This is probably the very edition at Miss Universe where it was overall performance that became the primary basis for crowning the winner. Looking at the Q&A round, each one at the Top 5 in 2007 actually were neck-in-neck at winning the title, but even with a strong answer, U.S.A.'s 4th runner-up finish that year was somewhat sealed after she slipped earlier in the evening gown round. Had Venezuela actually won that year (being the top frontrunner in 2007), and with the same results in 2008 and 2009, they could've won the first ever 3-peat in Miss Universe history. Interestingly, at the same time, had Japan won a year ago, they could've won the first ever back-to-back titles in Miss Universe history in 2007. I still do think that Honey Lee, despite losing at the Top 5, became a standard of comparison for a lot of Asian candidates' approach at winning the competition (especially from the mid-2010s onwards when the placements shifted towards Southeast Asia), and so far, at least for this century, no Brazilian candidate has come close to the one they've sent in 2007.
