How you loving the Prius?
@brucegaultney61162 жыл бұрын
Not sure if it was mentioned because I skimmed through this, but plan on an alignment as soon after installing as well. No reason to put excessive wear on new tires. Also, it’s been mentioned in other Prius groups to get some penetrating oil on the tie rod adjusters well ahead of to make the alignment more manageable. (Especially if you are in the rust belt and lifting a gen2, as the youngest are about to turn 14 and the oldest, like mine, which will turn 19 in April). I recently saw a post where the rod was seized and it sheared when attempting to turn it.

Definitely got an alignment that same day.

Agreed, Prius are sensitive to alignments woes. Also, If too out of alignment, traction control freaks out while cornering which is dangerous and unpleasant to drive. I did a string alignment before hitting the road. Drove 100 miles to let everything settle, then took it to the alignment shop. Shop couldn't figure out why I was there. Told them I lifted it and did a string alignment, but they said everything was perfectly in spec. I string align all my vehicles now and no issues.

Always when doing a lift, you have to re align it. On any vehicle.

I wonder if they have a lift kit like that for a Chevy Spark……I would love to do that someday (along with making it into a car camper)

I'm not sure. That would be cool

Do you think the drivetrain can handle the increase in tire size over the long run? I want to do the same lift and maybe same size tires, but I'm worried about how it will affect the drivetrain longevity.

Don’t limit yourself on the basis of your gender. Maybe you’re limited by garage space, tools, or level of experience, but that’s completely irrespective gender. 👍🏼

Does it affect gas mileage??
@suboverland Жыл бұрын
It did a little bit. If say about 5 mpg.
@carlk6398 Жыл бұрын
Yes, but not bad considering the benefits. I lost 5-10 mpg on my 2013 Plug-in with the 1.5" Prius Offroad Lift and 215/70R15 Yokohama G015 tires. Still averaging 45 mpg, which is insane, used to get 55 mpg with stock tires. The lift had zero impact on mpg and was definitely worth it. Made Prius much easier to drive; stopped scraping everywhere and less frantic about debris in the road.
