2007 VW PASSAT FAN BELT TENSIONER REPLACMENT

Hey mate. Good to see you're still posting. Wonder if you could help, I've got a 2012 Octavia 4x4 Estate 2.0 TDI on 170,000 miles. The car won't go into gear when turned on, I've pushed and pushed and it won't. When the car is off the gears go in OK, feels a bit rough still, but when I go into reverse and turn the car on I cannot pull it out of reverse. When I go into first and turn the car on it lurches forward but then pulls itself along ok. I've already pressure bled the system with new fluid and the pedal seems to be fine, but no improvement to the gear selection. One mechanic has said it'll need a whole new clutch, but this is before they've even looked at the car! Would be good to have some suggestion on what to look at/do before I go ahead and reach into my pockets

Thanks for watching really appreciate it. Unfortunately sounds like the clutch is gone. So you will need full clutch along with new flywheel if it has a Dual mass flywheel also if it has a concentric slave cylinder you will need one of them aswell sorry mate but it is the clutch at fault. How much have you been quoted
