Thank you for the video. Any reason why you changed the whole housing vs just the thermostat? I just watched your video- but already purchased only the thermostat and the ring type gasket. I have a 2012 escape six cylinders. What I'm missing?

Is this the same for 2009’Ford escape 3.0l?

The part numbers are the same but can anyone confirm that this is the same procedure that you have to do for the hybrid version of this car

So, was your suv overheating or you just had the PO128 code? My wife's is overheating, no heat in the interior, leaking from somewhere but can't really pinpoint it. Yes, I've wiped the engine down, but it's REALLY difficult to pinpoint the leak. This was a great video, but not sure if THIS is our problem.

No overheating just the code. Your issue sounds like you’re low on antifreeze due to the leak. No heat means either heater core is bad or low antifreeze. Fix the leak first, release air in the system then top off antifreeze. If it’s still over heating try removing thermostat and go from there.

My wife’s truck had both, it was overheating and no heat in the cab AFTER we changed out a water pump. The problem was air in the coolant system. Now I just have overheating problems. I’m going to need to change the thermostat now

@@TheBobbyreece5 Yeah, so the water pump was changed out by the shop we use, so it's good (they did it last summer). I just changed the thermostat..nope! So, I got a P1299 code. So I changed the coolant temp sensor. I was getting heat while idling, took it for a drive, had heat, almost home....lost heat. I watched a vid on how to fill the coolant system since it's a closed one. So, I drained the system and started over. I did this just a couple of days ago...it did the same thing as before. I notice it's making a hissing noise and a small leak on the top of the engine...somewhere. I'm at a loss! We should've never bought this piece of crap in the first place, but at the time it was what we could afford. NEVER AGAIN!! It's scheduled to go in the shop, so I'll let the experts figure it out. It's prob something REALLY simple, but I'm just not seeing it!

I have overheating when idling for 2-3 mins, but it quickly goes back to normal once I start moving again. I don't see an error message related to this issue. So, my question is, can the thermostat be the problem even if the error code doesn't show up?

Yep, the fan is working extra hard to keep it cool. That's what I figured out.

I have a leak on my 2012 ford esape but it's on the driver side of the engine. From like a small hole. Do you know what that is?
