Yes, those intrepid folks over in England, known as the English, do tend to have a decent grasp of the English language. Stands to reason, considering it was there that the language was born and subsequently spread around the world, including to the USA.

After a new water pump radiator cap and 3 new thermostats, it stayed closed again. Took it out after busting a hole in both upper and lower radiator hoses. Read through 1000s of comments against doing it. Bought myself a week till my new radiator came. After putting it in the old 1 didnt look bad at all. Found a short in a fan wire which made it look like it was working coming on sometimes then off when cooled down a bit. Now they are both running and its super cold. Guess i will reinstall that dam thermostat, just letting yall know whats up. If you have too, do it and figure it out till you get it right again. 💯🔥

Yes, that a pretty decent way to rule out a thermostat issue. I was kind of looking for a good way / tool to measure coolant flow to diagnose if the water pump is bad and not circulating coolant. Currently this is not an issue for me. But it's one component I don't have a tester to know for sure without removing and inspecting.

Try looping the heater inlet and outlet hoses together with clear vinyl hose. Run the engine and watch for flow. If you cant easily reach those, look for another small coolant hose you could insert a loop into. Stay gold

Question: on a 2014 Passat 1.8T (ETKA). Upper radiator hose gets hot and tight (barely compressible). Raditatior has a leak and both the primary and secondary fans are not cycling on. Radiator will be replaced, along with upper and lower coolant hoses, both coolant sensors, thermostat, along with heater core. All was original, and I have the interior taken apart anyway, might as well. Anything that I might be forgetting? Another mechanic said to wait before replacing the fans; suggested that the coolant sensor that sends the signal for the fan to come on may be faulty and to wait before spending the money. The entire fan assembly can be easily replaced without draining the coolant (4 screws and 2 electrical connectors and it lifts up and out). Your thoughts?

My Ford Ranger coolant pipe going to the top of the radiator is at high pressure and pipe feels like it want to explode. What may be the cause?
@YouWrench
@YouWrench Жыл бұрын
Thank you! On your Ford Ranger, hard to say without knowing how pressurised the hose is. They can get pretty firm under heat/pressure but should not be crazy-firm. If the car is overheating, or if there is unusual activity during heating then an airlock in the system could be a possibility as the coolant is not cycling. But if everything is working perfectly, no overheating etc then it could be normal? It really depends on how firm that hose is. Best of luck! --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome! What happens often on older vehicles is the thermostat works fairly normal except it won't close up completely and thereby causes the engine to never make it to correct operating temperature that the computer is looking for. The idle stays fast because it thinks it's still warming up, it runs richer because it thinks it still warming up, and your heat is weak.

Great videos, thank you so much! I have a question for you. What does it mean when I my heater is not producing any heat, and also I've noticed that the radiator fan does not turn on when the engine gets to temperature? I am suspecting a bad heater core but I would like to see if it could be something else first. The hoses going to the heater core are hot, and also would like to add that both fans turn on when I turn on the AC. - heater not hot, only blows cool air - rad fan not turning on - fans turn on with AC but not with only the heater - heater core hoses do get hot - upon starting the vehicle, there is a humming noise coming from the dash board for about 15 seconds Thank you
@YouWrench
@YouWrench 2 ай бұрын
Thank you! It could be something as simple as the flap motor that controls the distribution between hot and cold into the cabin has broken. Can you hear the motor turning when you switch between full hot to full cold/vice versa? Also, the radiator fan may not kick in when the car reaches operating temurature. Often it takes a quite a bit longer when just idling. It will come on much quicker when driving, but of course you would not notice this (without live diagnostic data at least). If you leave the car idling for long enough though it should come on eventually (will take longer in cold weather too). Just don't expect it to kick in as soon as the temp hits the middle of the gauge. Hope that helps 👍 ----------------------------------------------- To help support us: 1) Please be sure to use our Amazon Links! 2) Please ensure you LIKE our video's, and SUBSCRIBE to our channel! 3) Donations always welcome! Thank you. I never had these issues with my 99 camry but this 97 camry I am. After ther thermostat failed, I disconnected the fans from the ect to keep the engine cool till I got it fixed but now a week later after getting it fixed, the gasket failed and was leaking bad. Also i never see the gauge go up but i see the white smoke from under the hood first. Had to take the car back and the guy reinstalled a new gasket on the thermostat and did every test he could. Swore the ect was working and the fans were coming on like they should. But even now as I am sitting idling after dropping off my sister, the car started smoking again which immediately had me worried so I bypassed the switch to let the fans run to keep my car cool. The mechanic said if it does it again he will take it to Toyota himself😅 cause he even had the Toyota mechanic on the phone showing him what he was doing.
